WEEKLY UPDATES: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, FIONA!

PicMonkey Collage-october weekly updates image

Good morning!  Today’s post will link up to Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post,  and Book Journey, for  Weekly Updates.

**Mailbox Monday is now hosted at the home site:  Mailbox Monday.

Grab some coffee (or a pot of tea!), and let’s talk about our weeks.  I had a slower reading week, but savored each book.

Fiona turned eighteen on Saturday…here is a photo of the birthday girl.

Last night, I watched a movie (DVD) that I had missed in the theater.  It was truly awesome, IMO.  St. Vincent, starring Bill Murray, Melissa McCarthy, and Naomi Watts, reminded me once again why these actors are on my list of favorites.

You have so many blogs…you get more done in a day than almost anyone else! Do you ever think about just having one blog? Lol…or would that be too boring? Imagine just being responsible for one blog…one post…one lonely little post a day…

  2. Sometimes I don’t mind if it takes me longer to get through a book- if it’s good. Savoring isa good for it. And I do like the new headers- nice tweak.

Both The Day We Met and The Way Life Should Be sound good.

    1. Thanks, Kimba, and after our spring-like weather last week, this one was a bit colder, but not like some of you have experienced. I hadn’t watched Bill Murray for a long time, so it was interesting. Happy reading!

Fiona is excited about the new adventures ahead as a young adult.

    1. I had noticed St. Vincent in the theater, but I only see a select few there, and the rest when they come out on DVD. Thanks for stopping by, Jan, and Fiona is a happy girl. I guess I should say “young woman.” Enjoy your week.

  3. I think I’m in the minority but I didn’t like Christina Baker-Kline’s simplistic view of Maine in her Orphan Train so I doubt I will read The Way Life Should Be (Maine’s motto) as it’s likely to feature more of her vision of my favorite state. I am way impressed with how much you read and blog though.

    1. Thanks, Yvonne, and I loved Melissa McCarthy even more in this movie than in some of her other recent ones. She had a vulnerability about her that reminded me of her days as Sookie on Gilmore Girls. Enjoy your week!

  4. Oh is St. Vincent a funny movie? I will likely rent it. Love the book cover for “Amherst.” It looks mysterious. Emily Dickinson too. Are you watching the Oscars tonight? Cheers.

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Lucy, and I hope you enjoy the movie. I realized, while watching the Oscars, that I haven’t seen a lot of the movies that won awards.

I have enjoyed my books, though, and it was great to spend time with Fiona this weekend. Have a great week.

  5. Lovely picture of the Birthday girl. St Vincent sounds good. All your book titles are new to me although I have heard of Laura Lippman… just not sure if I read one of her mysteries.
    Enjoy your reading!

  7. I’ve read a lot of Laura Lippman but not sure I’ve read that one (and am too lazy to look up Goodreads!!!) – yes I’m slack.

Keen to hear what you think of Second LIfe. I was a bit disappointed but I think it’s cos he set the bar so high with no. 1!!!

    1. Thanks, Deborah, and that’s how I discovered that I hadn’t read it yet…checking on Goodreads!

I remember noticing it when it came out, but for some reason, got sidetracked. Enjoy your week! And yes, a phenomenal success with a first book can have that effect.
