THIS WEEK’S RANDOM QUESTION: What’s your favorite genre? Why?

My go-to genre lately seems to be either psychological thrillers, or just plain mysteries, especially those loaded with secrets.
Crazy Love You, by Lisa Unger, (click for review) is one of those books, and I guess one of the reasons I love them so is how they thoroughly engage me and hold me captive until the very end.
And then I might dream about them.
Lisa Unger, Lisa Gardner, and Laura Lippman are three of my favorite “L” authors, and I’ll soon be reading Hush Hush, by Laura Lippman. One of the Tess Monaghan series, this book promises to totally grab me in this absorbing mystery that plunges the reader into a disturbing case involving murder and a manipulative mother.

I have been reading this series “out of order,” with my first one being The Girl in the Green Raincoat, in 2011. It was one of the first books I read on Sparky….
This week, I am actually reading Book One in the series: Baltimore Blues.
Female detectives, like Tess Monaghan in this series, and Kinsey Millhone in the Sue Grafton books, always fuel my imagination as I picture myself immersed in the adventures that call to them.

RAINY DAYS AND MONDAYS 
I love this genre, too. And I don’t read it nearly enough. Have you read anything by Harlan Coben? He’s my favorite author of suspense and his new book comes out this month. I can’t wait!

I’ve not really read any mysteries before but I’m hoping to read the Sherlock Holmes books soon and hopefully the Chief Inspector Barnaby books too.

Since you popped in at The Book Connection, you know I like mysteries. Lately I have been hoping to write one. Need to finish my middle grade novel first, though.

Ummm…I read mysteries, pretty much all the time. Not exclusively, but mostly. My mind seems to need a puzzle most of the time. Enjoy your reading week!

Oh, I’m glad you did stop by. This blog was on Blogger for the longest time, and then I moved it (just the last year of posts) over to WP, which is easier for me, for some reason.
But in the process, all of my old followers were lost in the shuffle of the move, so I’m hoping some of them will pick up here.
I mix my thrillers with a lot of contemporary fiction, mostly about relationships…called women’s issues by some. Thanks for stopping by, Kelley.

Hmm, I tend to have a different favourite genre for every day of the week. I switch between urban fantasy, epic fantasy, paranormal romance, and historical books most though.
