WEEKLY UPDATES: IT IS RAINING!

PicMonkey Collage-newest Monday memes

Good morning!  Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon and The Sunday Post for Weekly Updates.

**Mailbox Monday is now hosted at the home site:  Mailbox Monday.

After a week of near summer weather, I woke up today to “raindrops keep falling on my head.”  Here is my patio, feeling it.

It is definitely a good day to read and curl up indoors….but I am thinking of going to the movies anyway.  I want to see The Age of Adaline.  I love several of the actors in the cast:  Harrison Ford, Ellen Burstyn, and Kathy Baker, among others.  Blake Lively is featured in the starring role.

Meanwhile, I will settle down with my coffee, do a little blogging and reading…and venture out.

INCOMING BOOKS: (Title/Cover Linked to Amazon)

Empty mailbox this week!  Yay, catch-up time.  I did download one book in a series I am reading:

Almost Dead (e-book, Book 5), by T. R. Ragan

Life for private investigator Lizzy Gardner will never be the same. It’s been three weeks since her fiancé, Jared, was shot on what was supposed to be their wedding day. He’s in a coma now, and Lizzy is being forced to make a decision she might not be able to live with.

But a string of deaths has forced her to get back to work. While they appear to be unrelated accidents at first glance, a closer look shows they all have something in common. More than a decade earlier, the victims were all members of the Ambassador Club at a Sacramento high school: a posh posse that bullied other students, one of whom remains tormented years later.

In this pulse-pounding thriller from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author T.R. Ragan, Lizzy will need her colleagues and what’s left of her wits to help her track down a cunning killer with a deadly revenge list before the next name—maybe hers—is crossed off for good.

  1. The same weather happened here, too, Laurel-Rain. We had a gorgeous, sunny week, then the sky opened up yesterday with a lot of rain in the afternoon.
You got some really good-looking books this week, I hope you’ll enjoy them all.
Have a wonderful week ahead, and happy reading.

I don’t want to complain, since so many people are feeling the drought, but it has done nothing but rain here this April.

    No readathon for you?

    1. We haven’t had much rain, so it was actually nice to have it. I don’t know why I don’t sign up for the readathons, since I am always reading anyway…LOL. I guess I don’t want to feel “tied” to my reading chair. Thanks for stopping by, Deb.

    1. Thanks, JoAnn…I do enjoy the patio, except when the allergy-inducing plants keep me indoors…so it is actually nicer in the rain, but harder to sit out there…LOL.

I do plan to enjoy the books…have a great week.

  3. We also had rain, briefly, but mostly gloomy misty air. Wish we had more rain– we desperately need it here! I don’t really go to the movies (for the 3 or 4 of us would be prohibitive to go more than a few times a year) but I am drooling over those Adaline commercials. I wonder if this is an original screenplay or based on a book? Seems like magical realism to me.

Such good books, a few already on my wishlist. I want to read the new Hallie Ephron, The Daughter, The Idea of Love, and the TS Ragan series. Enjoy!

  4. I just recently heard about the Lizzy Gardner series as someone reviewed the book you just got and it sounds like something I would like so I put the first one on my wishlist for later. 🙂

Enjoy your current reads and thanks for stopping by my blog.

  5. That’s great you’re getting rain in drought-stricken Calif. (My mom in SoCal is thrilled every time there’s a drop.) Let me know if you like the Adaline movie. The guy she falls for in the movie seems pretty hot, LOL. Lucky her. Enjoy your week!

    1. Yes, I did love how the movie turned out at the end…there was hope. And yes, that guy was hot. There were some unexpected quirky moments, but I don’t want to spoil it.

Thanks for visiting, Susan. And yes, the rain, albeit short-lived, was welcome.

  6. Night Night Sleep Tight has my interest. Actually all the books on your list have my interest 🙂 The movie looks like a good one and that’s a great cast.

    Have a great week!

    1. It is a real page turner, Yvonne….I have seen many good things about it, and loved the author’s book There Was an Old Woman.

The Age of Adaline was a riveting movie. Thanks for stopping by, and have a great week.

Hallie Ephron must be Norah’s daughter?? It’s interesting how visual artists, writers and performers’ kids follow in their footsteps. Genetic or being raised in a creative environment. My dad was a housepainter which I hope doesn’t explain my current activities He was also a musician and I have NO talent there at all. Thanks for coming by!

    1. Sister, she is one among four Ephron sisters: Nora, Hallie, Amy and Delia. I have read something by them all….thanks for stopping by, Steph.

And I think the genetic tendencies toward creativity are interesting.

  8. We had rain last week (that turned to snow flurries but they melted on impact). I’ve heard good things about that film – I enjoy those actors as well. Have a good week, Laurel!

    1. I am LOVING Night Night, Sleep Tight, Elizabeth, but I knew I would. I know you loved it, and I also really enjoyed the author’s previous book, There Was an Old Woman. Did you read that one?

Enjoy your week…and thanks for stopping by.
