Good morning!  Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.

**Mailbox Monday is now hosted at the home site:  Mailbox Monday.

This weekend is Mini-Bloggiesta time, and I’m already eagerly making over my Serendipity site. Check it out!

I am also still bingeing on Netflix.  Having finished Breaking Bad, I’m now alternating between House of Cards and Orange is the New Black (Season III).

Today is going to reach 105 degrees!  I’m staying indoors with the air conditioning on!

This morning, I am loving my coffee….probably because I am not ready to be awake!

INCOMING BOOKS (Titles/Covers Linked to Amazon)

This week, there were no books in my physical mailbox, but I received TWO e-books from NetGalley for review.  Yay!

The Bones of You (e-book), by Debbie Howells (NetGalley)

A stunning, wonderfully assured psychological thriller that evokes Gillian Flynn and Alice Sebold, The Bones of You revolves around a young girl’s murder and one woman’s obsession with uncovering the secrets in an idyllic English village.

The New Neighbor (e-book), by Leah Stewart (NetGalley)

In the tradition of Zoe Heller’s What Was She Thinking? Notes on a Scandal, The New Neighbor is a darkly sophisticated novel about an old woman’s curiosity turned into a dangerous obsession as she becomes involved in her new neighbor’s complicated and cloaked life.

WHAT’S UP NEXT? (Titles/Covers Linked to Amazon)

Currently Reading:  Golden State (e-book), by Stephanie Kegan

Three Wishes (e-book), by Liane Moriarty

A Week at the Lake, by Wendy Wax (Publicist)

That’s it for my week…and if I finish all of these, I have more e-books from which to choose!  Yay!  What did your week look like?  Let’s toast to a great new week!

Ah ha! A couple of new books from Netgalley. I see that you read more than one book at a time like I do. And, I like your comment that you have even more eBooks on hand. So do I!

  2. Good week for you! The New Neighbor sounds to me to be in the vein of The Girl on the Train (I think you read this also?). I’m eager to hear your thoughts on that one.
The Bones of You was a good read for me (4/5).
Stay cool (we are said to be hitting around 97 on 3 days this coming week, yikes!).

    1. I made the mistake of going out for the mail…and then lunch. Now I am steaming hot, even though the air conditioning is working.

Thanks for stopping by, Rita, and I love the sound of The New Neighbor, too. I requested it back in April, and it took this long to get it! Looking forward to The Bones of You.

  3. I’ve got The Bones of You as well… which I’m looking forward to. And it’s Sunday morning here and I slept badly so I can relate to your coffee requirements. I’m not a coffee drinker so already on my second glass of diet coke!

  4. 105? Yikes. That’s not good. 🙂 Looks like a nice week, lots of reading. Eight Hundred Grapes sounds nice, it sounds like it surprised a bit at the end, which can be fun.

I think The New Neighbor looks good, and possibly suspenseful. Enjoy!

    1. I am looking forward to The New Neighbor, but have to wait a bit to read it, so my review doesn’t come out too early. I like to review a book as soon as I finish it.

Yes, definitely too hot here, Greg…it is still warm out at 11:30 p.m. Thanks for stopping by.

When I was a kid and it was so hot we didn’t have AC. If it wasn’t Sunday I went to the library. It’s one reason I read so much now!

    1. Thanks for visiting, Heather, and I would love to send some of our heat…LOL. What season are you on in Breaking Bad? It took me a long time, because I was only setting up my laptop-TV hook-up on Sundays…but now I have my Blu-Ray player, so it went faster.

  6. I have to get Netflix some day, I know there’s so much on there I could watch and I know I’ll become addicted lol. It’s super nice out here, some sun but not too hot!
You’ve got some lovely looking books there, none I’ve heard of but I really like some of those covers. Have a great week and enjoy your books!

    1. Thanks, Kelsey, and I got Netflix when I was deciding to cancel my cable service…but then the provider talked me into keeping it with several discounts…LOL. But I’m glad I have Netflix, especially now with my Blu-Ray as a handy device.

  7. readerbuzz

Whew! Hit is right. You might take a look at Midnight in Siberia…might cool you off to read about it!

  8. Chilly and rainy here, but I’ve been getting lots of books in my mailbox too, which brightens any day for me. Just started Whisper Beach, by Shelly Noble. I just binge watched Grace and Frankie on Netflix, which I loved!

  9. WOW, another busy week Laurel-Rain! And I have a feeling you’ll be busy next week, too, with those good-looking books! Both The Bones of You and The New Neighbor look creepy, but the others look a little lighter, so you definitely got some balance 🙂
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.

  10. Three Wishes and A Week At the Lake both look good. Wow, 105 degrees? Now, that’s hot. I’d stay inside too.

I tried Breaking Bad a couple of times but I just couldn’t get into it. I watched the first episode of the new season of Orange is the New Black, but I was kind of bored. Maybe it’s my mood. I still have DVR episodes from last season to watch of other shows. The only show I keep up-to-date is GH.

Hope you have a great week!

    1. Thanks, Yvonne, I am loving Three Wishes and can’t wait to read A Week at the Lake. I wasn’t hooked on Breaking Bad until the second season. I’ve been watching OITNB and enjoying it, and I also love House of Cards.

Definitely a fan of GH! Enjoy your week.

  11. That is a hot day! Hope you’re enjoying Golden State. The New Neighbor looks very intriguing. I’m going to start OITNB probably tomorrow- trying so hard to avoid spoilers! Have a good week and stay cool 🙂

  12. I can’t imagine a 105 degree heat, I wimp out totally at 90 which I find extreme and only experienced a few times. Definitely inside day. I look forward to Wendy Wax’s book being published and have Three Wishes sitting on my shelf. Happy reading in the cool!

  13. Oh! I wish I could watch Breaking Bad and House of Cards for the first time again. But, I still have a “first” left, since I have yet to watch OITNB!
Great selection of books here. I still have to read Wendy Wax, but heard great things about her books. Happy reading!

  14. Teddyree

Ugh so hot so early in the season. I’d be hiding out in the aircon too. Now that Outlander and Scandal are over, my binge-watching has turned to Hannibal lol. I love Wendy Wax, wish I had that new book. Have a wonderful week and happy reading 🙂

  15. These do look and sound good. I am reading physical books this week and giving my Kindle a rest. I want to visibly whittle down TBR mountain. Happy reading and thanks for visiting my blog.

  16. 105 degrees?? Yikes!! I’d stay inside with Netflx and books, too. Didn’t know Season 3 of OITNB was available… thanks for that. Also need to read Wendy Wax. The cover of that book is beautiful!

    1. Yes, and before summer’s end, it will reach 110 or higher…one summer, we had 114-115 for a week! Luckily that doesn’t happen that often…it was kind of a record.

Season 3 of OITNB came out on Friday. Loving it!

Tonight I watched some episodes of House of Cards…I’m new to this series, so I’m still on Season 1.

Thanks for stopping by, JoAnn…enjoy your week.

    1. Oh, I love House of Cards, too! I like how Kevin Spacey does these little “instructional asides” to the audience. He is funny!

And as soon as the show Grace and Frankie was on, I watched the whole thing in two sittings! Loved it! Hope they have more seasons.

      Thanks for stopping by, Nise.

    1. Yes, Southern and Northern California are better, temperature-wise; I live in Central California, the hottest place around…LOL. Thanks for stopping by, Leslie, and having good books to read is a great way to cope.

  17. Is it still 105 degrees there? Yikes. I was away last weekend so am just now catching up. I’m curious about what you think of Golden State. Will check back on Sunday. Enjoy your books!

    1. Yes! It was even hotter this afternoon….wow, I should be used to it by now, as this happens every summer. Thanks for stopping by, Susan, and I loved Golden State. I reviewed it on An Interior Journey.

    1. Wow, lucky you! I found mine in a close-out sale and bought up all the pieces they had. I wouldn’t know where to find them to replace any that might break….yikes!

Thanks for stopping by, Intrepid Angeleno.
