WEEKLY UPDATES: SHARING TIDBITS

Good morning!  Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.

**Mailbox Monday is now hosted at the home site:  Mailbox Monday.

What a week!  There were appointments and outings and a little blog whacking. Yes, I deleted two of my blogs, and now have NINE.  Check out my website to see what’s left. (I deleted Story Corner and Going out on a Limb).

I saw a movie mid-week:  I’ll See You In My Dreams, (click for review) with Blythe Danner, Sam Elliott, and a supporting cast of fun “oldies.”

  1. Wow! 9? I can barely keep up with 1. Very impressive! I have a Wendy Corsi Staub that I’m really looking forward to reading. She’s an author I’ve never read before but I’ve heard great things about her. Those Secrets We Keep looks so summer-y and I love the cover on The Neighbors. Have a great week!

    1. Thanks, Katherine, and my nine seem like a small number, after eleven; and a while ago (and for a minute or so), I had twenty. LOL

I haven’t read Wendy Corsi Staub in a long while, but I also have one of her books on Pippa.

I am excited about all of my books…thanks for stopping by.

  2. I have no idea how you’ve been keeping up with so many blogs, Laurel-Rain, and even 9 sounds like far too much for me 😉
Your new books look really good, Those Secrets We Keep and Before We Met will need to be added to my own shelves.
Have a wonderful weekend and happy reading.

    1. Thanks, Lexxie, and as for my numerous blogs, now smaller in number, I played around with them, mostly, only posting regularly on about four or five of them. I am looking forward to these books, too. Enjoy your week.

  3. So much good reading ahead for you! Some on my wishlist and some I just added. Those Secrets We Keep I requested but got turned down because they had bigger blogs to give it too I guess. Wendy Wax, yes for that one! And Wendy Corsi Staub, an oldie but goodie author for me. My eldest and I buddy-read almost all of her earlier adult suspense titles, not including the last 3-4 years though. I really would like to get back to reading her; she reminded me of a bit more graphic M.H. Clark type storywriter.
And deleting blogs… gasp, lol. I understand, you have many to deal with now. I have trouble with 2, and only one is for public reading, but I have deleted two blogs in the past. Have a relaxing, and cool(er) week ahead.

    1. Thanks, Rita, and deleting blogs feels a bit like cutting off a limb, but I did it carefully, making sure that no reviews were linked to any of my other blogs’ pages, like Curl up and Read, where I post my review lists and links.

Did you try to get Secrets on NetGalley? I have mostly gotten what I’ve requested, but those few that are denied feel painful and personal…LOL. Like Ana of California….but I added the info they requested, so maybe they will take another look.

      Enjoy your week!

      1. I did try through Netgalley… Edelweiss is beyond my scope of understanding and the couple of books I got through there was with help from the blog tour admin. I’ve been turned down a few times this summer but when I changed my blog name and platform, I started Netgalley again from scratch, so I only have been using it again for a few months. I’m actually pleasantly surprised they allow me as much good titles as they do 🙂
Oh, it’s another hot day today, yesterday briefly hit 108 here!! We plan on trying to move down to San Diego county next year when our lease is up on this house. I say try because– of course– the prices are crazy stupid down there. Have a good one.

  4. I’ve read good things about the Wendy Wax book; she’s always reliable. I just added Before We Met to my virtual pile after seeing it here.
How do I get in on those Vine books?

    1. Thanks, Elizabeth, and as for Vine, I had been regularly posting my reviews on Amazon when I got an invitation to participate. I don’t know how many reviews I had done at that point, but the more you do, the more likely the chance for the invitation. But that was a few years ago…I don’t know what their policy is now. Perhaps you could write to them with an inquiry?

  5. I like quite a few of your new arrivals and those next on your reading agenda.

I can’t believe you still have so many blogs on the go. I struggled to keep 2 going!

    1. Yes, I did get carried away with the blogs, enjoying the creating and designing of them….but I mostly post on my top 5 sites. Thanks for stopping by, Deborah, and I hope you have a great week.

  6. The most appealing book to me is Those Secrets We Keep, will look forward to your review. Drinking iced tea is very American! I was just thinking that as I shopped groceries for my Dad this morning and I saw some on the fridge shelf in the shop. Not sure I’d want to drink it. I drink hot tea in the heat!

    1. I guess iced drinks are definitely American, aren’t they? I don’t think I could drink hot tea in hot weather…LOL.

I think Those Secrets We Keep looks very good, too. Thanks for stopping by, Kathryn.

  9. Laurel how do you do it? Any organisational tips on how you stay on top with the whole posting? I really need to work out a blogging schedule of some sort, so far I only use a monthly planner.

I’m checking out your other post e.g. finishing line at Bloggiesta and see how you went 🙂

    1. Thanks, Angelica, and I guess I do keep lists of my blog posts after I make them; I track books purchased, read, etc. As for scheduling posts, I don’t trust the scheduling feature of sites…I am just one of those “do it now” people. Hats off to those who are so organized, but I just focus and do.

  10. I am constantly impressed that you can keep up with so many blogs! Several years ago I had a food blog with my daughter and that was one too many for me, lol! Love the cover on the Wendy Wax book… that one is on my list. Hope you have a great week!

    1. Oh, thanks, JoAnn…I am not sure why I became so obsessed with blogging (yes, obsessed is the right word for it!). But I am having fun, and when I stop having fun with it, you’ll see more blogs going into the virtual trash heap. Thanks for stopping by and sharing…and I think we each have our own obsessions…or maybe I’m the only one. LOL

I am loving A Week at the Lake…almost finished.

      Thanks for stopping by.

    1. Thanks, Susan, I would love to have a DVD of that movie when it’s available. I think it’s one I’ll want to watch over and over…just like I read Little Women over and over as a kid. But my book then was illustrated. I miss having those pictures…LOL.

  11. wow I am amazed how you can run nine blogs and that’s the amount after deleting two of them. I only have one blog and that’s enough for me.
You got a nice haul this weke These Secrets we Keep looks good. i hope you’ll enjoy your new books and have a great week!

    1. Thanks, Lola, but reading and blogging are my primary focus these days, and I really post mainly on the top five sites, alternating. I use the Bloggiesta events to do the maintenance that I don’t get done regularly.

I think Secrets We Keep looks good, too.

    1. Thanks, Martha, and I alternate postings on the blogs. I do maintenance periodically and big maintenance during Bloggiesta events. It’s fun for me. When it stops being fun, I’ll stop. LOL

    1. Thanks, Karen, I love the books I’m reading…and as for Amazon Vine, I started posting reviews of every book I read on Amazon, and one day I got an e-mail asking me to participate in Vine.

I don’t know how it works now…but maybe you could send them an inquiry?

I have a glass of iced tea beside me as I write this. 😉 I started reading Little Women when I was very young, got to the death and stopped, refusing to pick it back up. I finally got brave enough to try again a couple of years ago. I didn’t realize that the copy I’d bought at a library sale was only half the story. It stopped with everyone alive and well. I’m tempted to leave it as is but I should try it again…someday. Enjoy your week!

    1. Yes, I do love the look of both those books, Jamie; and as for Little Women, I still wish I had the copy I read as a child, but I don’t know what happened to it…sigh. I left home and most of my things behind when I was fairly young. Thanks for stopping by.

    1. I am looking forward Secrets We Keep….and at the same time, I am eager to reread some books I’m feeling nostalgic about. I wonder how that will work out? LOL.

Thanks for stopping by, Cheryl, and have a great week.

  15. Looks like some great summer reading! I could never manage nine blogs, much less eleven. I have two and sadly and one hasn’t been updated in a year. I keep saying I’ll get back to my gardening blog and I never do it. Ironically, the old gardening posts get more traffic than my book blog. Go figure!
