WEEKLY UPDATES: FUN & FAMILY

Good morning!  Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.

**Mailbox Monday is now hosted at the home site:  Mailbox Monday.

This week has been a round of fun, laughter, and lots of good food….my son and DIL from Berlin are here, after a brief stop in LA, the glamor capital, LOL; here are a few of our favorite moments.

Below, Craig and Gabi are enjoying a taste of brew, while awaiting a delicious pizza.  We had taken a small trip to the foothill community where I lived when Craig was last here….and just couldn’t resist a visit to the local pizza factory.

And here is a glimpse of Shaver Lake, a mountain community just above where we live…and the day was overcast, but much cooler than it is down in the valley.  Due to the poor snowfalls of our previous winter, the lake is down…but visitors still enjoy it.

The Perfect Son (e-book), by Barbara Claypole White

From a distance, Felix Fitzwilliam, the son of an old English family, is a good husband and father. But, obsessed with order and routine, he’s a prisoner to perfection. Disengaged from the emotional life of his North Carolina family, Felix has let his wife, Ella, deal with their special-needs son by herself.

A talented jewelry designer turned full-time mother, Ella is the family rock…until her heart attack shatters their carefully structured existence. Now Harry, a gifted teen grappling with the chaos of Tourette’s, confronts a world outside his parents’ control, one that tests his desire for independence.

As Harry searches for his future, and Ella adapts to the limits of her failing health, Felix struggles with his past and present roles. To prevent the family from being ripped apart, they must each bend with the inevitability of change and reinforce the ties that bind.

My upcoming week will be full of activities with family….today will be swimming and barbecuing at my daughter’s house.  But I do plan to take a book along.

And here is a photo from last weekend, (prior to the arrival of The Berliners):  family gathering at The Elephant Bar, one of our favorite places.  There are many VERY TALL people in our family…LOL.

  3. Wonderful to have your family finally landed. The pic of the lake is gorgeous even if a little short of water. I have never been able to get into a Marian Keyes book, maybe should have another look sometime. Hope you enjoy The Perfect Son when you get to it.

    1. I am struggling a bit with the Marian Keyes, my first experience with this author. I keep thinking I am distracted by my family events…LOL. Thanks for stopping by, Kathryn, and I do hope to enjoy The Perfect Son.

    1. Oh, I do hope the drought will end soon, but it has been going on for years! Now there are numerous changes to try and cope, like not being able to water more than once a week, etc.

Thanks for stopping by, Steph, and enjoy your week.

    1. Thanks, JoAnn, and those people are especially tall, considering that I’m not short (5’8″)…and they are much taller…LOL.

Definitely enjoying the family time. Thanks for stopping by.

Some nice family time, I guess your son doesn’t get to visit that often? I giggled at your comment … your poor showing on your blogs would be an exceptional week for me haha. I’m really looking forward to reading The Perfect Son. Happy reading 🙂

    1. Yes, I normally do a lot of blogging, so it feels like I’m falling short…LOL. And my son hasn’t been in the states for eight years! The longest interval between visits. Also, we are meeting his wife for the first time (unless you count Skype). Thanks for visiting, Teddyree.

    1. Thanks, Pat, and I do plan to enjoy them again this week, although they will spend nights at my daughter’s house starting tomorrow. She wants her share of the time with them…LOL. I’ll be there a lot, too.

Glad you could stop by, and have a great week.
