WEEKLY UPDATES: MORE FAMILY FUN

Good morning!  Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.

**Mailbox Monday is now hosted at the home site:  Mailbox Monday.

The past two weeks have been full of family fun…and less reading and blogging.  To give you a “taste” of some of that fun, here’s a shot from a fun-filled night at my daughter’s house, which we have dubbed Margarita Night.  As a bartender by trade, along with her career as a stylist, Heather does the honors.

  1. I’ve got The Murderer’s Daughter as well and looking forward to getting to it. I don’t really drink spirits or cocktails other than margaritas (which I discovered accidentally when out for Mexican one night!). It looks like you’re having a great time!

  3. So glad you have an extended visit with your son- how nice. Sounds like you guys are having a great time! Margarita Night sounds pretty good!

Liked your interior world post too- yes it nice to shake things up sometimes. Oh, and I love the Coca Cola chairs! 🙂

    1. Thanks, Greg, it has been a long overdue visit, but I am so delighted that it can be at least three months of time with them. I have to watch those Margarita Nights, though; they could become habit forming…LOL.

I love the Coca Cola set, too….collecting Coca Cola stuff started as a fun way to decorate my guest house when I lived in the foothills…and when I downsized, they seemed to fit perfectly in my smaller, quirky space.

      Enjoy your week!

    1. Thanks! And no, I haven’t started reading it yet…I still need to read a couple of review books first…but soon! Thanks for stopping by, Elizabeth, and I am looking forward to more family time.

      Enjoy your week!

  4. Oooh, margaritas. Those sound good, with as warm as it’s been here.

Six blog posts…and that’s a less-than-stellar week? I think most bloggers would be more than happy with that. Of course, I’m happy with one or two a week. 🙂

Even though I’m not reading Go Set A Watchman, I’m looking forward to see what others think of it. I’ll have to check out what you thought later.

    1. Thanks, Bryan, and I guess when I am used to more posts and reviews, I feel that I have let myself down. But I am not sorry! No, the family time has been so precious.

I try to approach new books that have been hyped and written about in the media….with no expectations.

      Enjoy your week!

  5. The night at your daughter’s looks so fun! And how great to have a bartender in the family. I could definitely get used to that! You’ve got a lot of interesting and diverse choices for your next book. Can’t wait to see what you end up reading. Have a great week!

    1. Oh, it was, Katherine…and I wish she lived closer to me. LOL. But it is only a twenty minute drive across the city into the adjacent village, so no big deal, right?

I plan to enjoy my reads, whenever I can sandwich them in this week. Thanks for stopping by!

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Emma, and my son and my daughter had a difference of opinion on the perfect recipe….the ingredients include, of course, tequila, some Triple Sec, some Margarita mix, and some lemon juice (I think). This last bit was up for debate…LOL.

I, too, am a fan of Kellerman, even though I stopped for a while. Now I am catching up.

  6. To me, you had the perfect week, part family time and part reading and daily life! Here’s to more of those days, cheers! I want to read all your books, lol. The Murderer’s Daughter, yes, from one of my fave authors. Also The Rumor, Freedom’s Child, and Finding Mia. Awesome finds for you, in my opinion.

    1. Definitely a good mix, Rita. I hadn’t realized how “out of balance” I had become. LOL

I am looking forward to all of my books, too, and will get to them all eventually. I have cut down on review books…and that will lead to more “going with the flow.”

      Thanks for stopping by.

    1. I am reading The Murderer’s Daughter…and Freedom’s Child. I don’t often read more than one at a time, but it is working so far, and I’m loving both books. Enjoy your week, Laura.

  7. Reading and blogging can’t compare to family time and margarita time! Sounds like you are having fun 🙂 Remember Mia looks like a good thriller! I am in that kind of mood. Enjoy your week!

  8. Family time is great, but it sure does cut back on reading time! But the books will always be there, so soak up the family while you can.

I’ll be interested to see what you think of Go Set a Watchman. I haven’t read it (and probably won’t until I’ve read TKAM), but I’m interested in people’s reactions to what is, essentially, an early draft of the book that became TKAM.

    Have a great week!

  9. I’m going to have to read ‘The Murderer’s Daughter’. I’ve seen it everywhere and it looks so good! Sounds like you have had a lot of fun over the past few weeks.

    1. Definitely, Denise….and I started reading The Murderer’s Daughter, along with Freedom’s Child (I don’t often read two at once!), and I love the character. Thanks for stopping by, and enjoy your week.

    1. I do hope to enjoy it, and I try not to have any expectations about books that get a lot of buzz. Yes, margaritas are potent the way my daughter makes them…LOL. (She makes them less potent at the bar where she works part time).

      Thanks for stopping by, Kathryn.

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Shelleyrae, and while I am reading Freedom’s Child, I also started reading The Murderer’s Daughter, and I think I will enjoy reading them both. Have a great week, and yes, the Margarita Night was a blast (does anyone still say “blast”?).

    1. Thanks for visiting, Pat, and I am looking forward to another good week. My son and DIL are at Heather’s this week….probably until Friday. Enjoying time to read, watch Netflix, and clean up the house a little.

I think Remember Mia sounds like a page-turner. Have a great week!

Margarita night sounds awesome. I could go for one of those right now. 😉

I recently bought a copy of Remember Mia, too. Can’t wait to see what you think! I’ve been in the mood for nothing except suspense/thrillers lately.

Hope you have a great week!

    1. Thanks, Brandie, and I don’t usually have nights like that….I am kind of boring, lately, LOL; but it is fun to share family time and cocktails. Remember Mia caught my eye and I hope to enjoy it soon. I also love suspense thrillers. Enjoy your week!

  11. I think your less than impressive week is a normal week for many of us 🙂
Seeing The Rumor cover makes me wish I was going to the shore this year. Not going to happen. I’ll have to go there in a book. Have a great week, Laurel!

    1. I could use some time at the beach….later this summer, perhaps, and my youngest son lives right by the beach in the northern part of the state. Time for a visit! Thanks for stopping by, Mary, and enjoy your week. I am getting used to my “new normal.” It feels kind of good.

  12. It is always nice to take a bit of a break from blogging and everything and just kick back. What better way than with a margarita made by your own personal bartender? That’s living. I am anxious to read Go Set a Watchman despite all the backlash.

Remember Mia seems like a good creepy story. But I’ll wait to read your review of it. Are your Berliners still there? Hope you are all having fun. Margaritas taste great in the summer!

    1. Thanks, Susan, and yes, the Berliners are still here, but staying at my daughter’s this week. We are alternating. I join them for dinner occasionally, too.

I am also looking forward to Remember Mia. Have a great week!

    1. Thanks, Lexxie, and I have been enjoying family time…and the margaritas.

I hope to love Go Set a Watchman…there is certainly a lot of buzz about it, some bad, some good. I like to make up my own mind, so that’s what I’ll do.

      Thanks for visiting.

    1. Oh, it has been fun, Leslie…and then I had a few days while the “kids” were at my daughter’s…tonight, we’re having dinner at my daughter’s…and then they are coming to my house for a week. LOL

I bought the 50th anniversary hardcover edition of TKAM, so I felt I needed to get this one, too, for a matching set. I won’t be donating these books…
