Today’s topic: Favorite Games
Whenever I think of board games, I remember the summer when I was ten years old and spent a week with two cousins in their house. We played Monopoly…endlessly. And even though I have played it on and off over the years, that moment in time stands out most vividly for me.
When my eldest son and his wife (the Berliners) recently visited, my grandson brought over a Monopoly game and the fun went on. I wish I had photos of them playing!
Backgammon is another game that has been memorable in my life. It was the early 80s, and for some reason, a friend and I were hooked on this game. There were lots of drinks and chatting….and we went on for hours.
Sadly, I haven’t played in ages….but I do have this lovely game set that I bought from Amazon.
Maybe I can talk my family into playing again when the Berliners return in early September!
Until then, it’s back to books and blogging for me! I have been playing around with my blogs (again!) this week, and created new themes and headers for two sites. Does this activity count as a game? LOL
Here’s the new look over at Creative Journey.
Snow Sparks is wearing a new face and theme, too.

We used to have a Monopoly home when I was a kid and play games together 🙂 We used to play a lot of checkers and ludo games (my mother used to cheat shamefully at ludo !). I still play Triomino with my mother (dominoes with 3 sides) and sometimes with my kids, but it’s sad to see that most of the time, everybody’s playing on computers or tablets, but not all together… Well, there are other moments when we are all having fun together 🙂

I was very happy this summer to see my grandson put down his video games to play Monopoly with his aunt and uncle.
Thanks for stopping by, Izabel, and perhaps we should all do our best to resurrect evenings with board games.

We had a backgammon set when I was a kid that I used to play with but I had (and have) zero idea of how to play the actual game! I liked all the dice and pieces though. I love Monopoly! I always try and get the railroads. Sounds like some fun family time!

When I was playing Backgammon like an addict in the 80s, I though I knew how; but when I got my set and read the rules, I realized I didn’t really know how…LOL.
Thanks for stopping by, Katherine.

I have a memory of a summer of Monopoly bingeing, too. We tried to bring back the feeling, but it’s never the same. Now I’m off to look at your newly decorated blogs.

I saw a glimpse of what that was like when my grandson played Monopoly with my son and DIL….and I also recall times when he was younger and we sat around playing Life.
Thanks for stopping by, Elizabeth, and I hope you enjoy my newly decorated blogs.

I loved playing backgammon when I was younger. We learned during one of our many camping trips and we had a lot of fun. It’s been so long since I played so I can’t remember the rules. But I would love to play this again. Thanks for stopping by my blog!

I bought the backgammon set because my original one was pretty much trashed, but when I read the rules, nothing about them sounded familiar. I either totally forgot how to play, or I was doing it wrong. LOL.
Thanks for stopping by, Kathy…

My grandparents loved Backgammon. I think I maybe played once, but not enough to get the hang of the game. Monopoly is probably my husband’s favorite game. 🙂
I hope you have a great weekend!

Thanks, Wendy, and I am not sure I really knew how to play it back then, as the rules seem completely unfamiliar to me now. LOL
Enjoy your weekend!

I have always loved board games. My family go to player was Justin – he and I would play games every holiday and when we were at the cabin.
