WEEKLY UPDATES: A COZY READING & BLOGGING WEEK

Good morning!  Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.

**Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site:  Mailbox Monday.

And, in anticipation of Sheila’s return to lead us in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, check out Book Journey.

Another week of reading, blogging, and a little bit of furniture rearranging.  Now I am savoring my coffee and contemplating what to watch on TV.  Lately I have been hooked on Mad Men on Netflix.

I switched to another favorite and colorful mug for today.

  1. Stacks of new arrivals there. I’ve read a couple (Pretty Girls and Maybe in Another Life) and enjoyed both of them.

Am off to read your review of the Diana Chamberlain as I keep hearing good things about her books but am yet to read any!

  2. I have never seen Mad Men, but heard all the rage. I’ve been binging a lot on Netflix and thinking about Hlul as well, but I don’t know if they carry anything good. Do you watch Hulu?

Maybe In Another Life sounds great, I like the parallel paths idea. It sounds like a lot of fun!

    Love that pic!

    1. Thanks, Greg, glad you liked the pic….and I watched Hulu once when one of the cancelled soaps from 2011 was shown on the Internet for a while. But I do have the availability for it on my Blu-Ray, so I’ve been planning to check it out.

As for Mad Men, I hadn’t given it much thought, but then read the synopsis and was quite taken by the era (the 60s). It really swept me back in time!

I do love books with the parallel paths, and so far, each one I’ve read has been different enough not to bore me. Happy you could stop by.

  3. Love the mug. Before the Storm was good, the twists and turns in a DC book always keep me guessing and often surprise me. Ah, such a good looking group of books. Will be interested to see what you think of All the Summer Girls.

Your reading corner is so very cozy, it must be a pleasure to enjoy it 🙂 I want to try Madmen, but we don’t have it in Netflix France (my library has it, though !). I like the title and cover of The in-between hour, it’s kind of a magical moment, and the light is so soft then. Enjoy your new books and have a great week-end !

    1. I am curious about it, Deb…I read another book in which the author, in her memoir, described the year she lived with Salinger when she was young. (Joyce Maynard’s At Home in the World).

      Thanks for stopping by.

    1. Thanks, Trish, and yes, I read the book before the movie…and then, somehow, lost track of the book in one of my purges (when I moved, I got rid of most mass market paperbacks).

Now I have it in hardcover and hope to hang onto it! LOL

    1. It is hard to decide, since I usually have to pick from the older stack first (after review books, of course). I have lists on one of my blogs so I can track when I got the books. I peruse the list regularly when deciding what to read for the week.

Thanks for stopping by, JoAnn…enjoy your week!

I love your Cozy Spot. I especially love your mug, how cute. I choose a cozy spot according to where my cat wants to go during the week. She has favorite spots. Would like to read The Salinger Years. Always have time to reread Catcher In The rye.

  6. I just read Shroud of Silence. That is excellent, Laurel, loved it! So creatively written.

I would like to read some of your choices– Rainy Day Sisters, Driving Lessons, and Pretty Girls, as Karin Slaughter is a go-to for me, though she can be rather graphic.

I applaud your rereads, wish I could get into that, and I enjoyed Sleeping with the Enemy and also Seventh Heaven (and liked the movie of Sleeping.. with Julia Roberts, and I remember Brown-Eyed Girl by Van Morrison played in it like it was yesterday). Have a good week!

    1. Thanks, Rita, glad you enjoyed Shroud of Silence. I have a few short stories over at Authors Den and occasionally excerpt them on a blog.

I love the music playing in the background of the Sleeping with the Enemy movie, too…and then there is the creepy music from Berlioz, that played in scenes before the husband appeared…yikes!

I often watch that movie again, when I’m in the mood for something scary…LOL.

    1. Anything with the words “rainy” or “rainy day” would appeal to both of us, I think, Heidi, given the titles of our blogs…LOL.

Pretty Girls caught my eye, too, so I’m eager to move it up on my stacks. Thanks for stopping by.

  7. I used to love Mad Men. I thought the early seasons were the best. I’m enjoying GH, too, and was very happy they wrapped up Silas’ murder. Now we have a new mystery, plus the Jason reveal needs to be public already.

Your books look so good. Have a great week!

Diane Chamberlain is one of my favourite authors, her latest was fantastic! I’m busting to read Rainy Day Sisters, I hope it’s as wonderful as I’m expecting. Have a great week and enjoy your new reads!

  9. We have Mad Men on our Netflix queue but we haven’t started it yet. My husband could binge on entire seasons and burn through a series quickly but I’m just a 1-2 hours-at-a-time girl. It takes us forever to finish a series and we have enough on our plate at the moment! Enjoy your week!

    1. Thanks, Mary, and wow, I can’t imagine reading on the treadmill! I have tried to read on the exercise bike, but it doesn’t work for me. So I seldom get on it…LOL.

I am looking forward to both books, and enjoy your week!

      1. Ha – that’s reason to stay off the exercise bike 🙂 I prop the iPad up and read on that while I’m on the treadmill. I can’t read print books that way though.
