WEEKLY UPDATES: THEY’RE BACK!

Good morning!  Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.

**Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site:  Mailbox Monday.

And, in anticipation of Sheila’s return to lead us in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, check out Book Journey.

Wow, what a week!  I only read and reviewed ONE book, although I’m halfway through another.  I did a bit of blogging, but my focus has been on my returning house guests (they’re here now!), and Mad Men.  I stayed up until 3:30 a.m. to finish the seven episodes of Season 7 that are on Netflix...and then spent this morning trying to get the additional episodes on Amazon Video.  I found them, but decided to wait, since they are 1.99 an episode…yes, I’m cheap!

This morning I am here (below), drinking coffee and trying to stay awake.

That’s what my reading/blogging world looks like…and I predict that there will be very little reading and blogging in the days ahead, but there will be lots of late-night watching of Amazon Videos, Netflix, etc.  Enjoy your week!

  1. I am having a lackluster reading week as well with my kids starting back to school and my daughter’s bday. It hasn’t been productive. I loved Mad Men. I was sad to see it end, but the finale was well worth the journey. Have a wonderful week.

  2. I got rejected for THe Lake House so must try the Australian publisher… though I think they’re up to their December listings at the moment. (Hopefully I already requested it and it’ll be arriving any day now!)

  3. I’d have slept in for a very long time after that nearly all nighter! I have never read anything by Anne Rivers Siddons or Kate Morton but do have one of their books each on my TBR shelves. Maybe I will warm more to them once I read your review.

Hey glad to hear your visitors are returning, enjoy all the late night fun! 🙂 I did the same thing the other day, stayed up way too late watching a show on Netflix, and I was a mess the enxt day. Will I ever learn?

Nice post on autumn, I hope you get some autumn coolness soon. We’ve started dipping in temps a bit…

    1. Our temps are supposed to drop to the high 80s this week, although today is going to be HOT. I love autumn, though, and just the thought of it on the horizon keeps me going. Thanks for stopping by, Greg, and enjoy your week.

As for late nights, they can be so much fun….until the next day. LOL

Well, watching our favorite tv shows is a perfectly acceptable substitute for reading… Or at least I’d like to tell myself that, because I do it a lot too!

Fall came this morning (though I’m sure it won’t stick around for more than a couple of days this early), so I hope to take my coffee to the front porch and enjoy the day.

  7. I’m glad you have your son back for more visiting. Especially since you don’t see each other that much now. Enjoy!
I’d like to read The Lake House, hope it’s a good one for you.
And Mad Men, well I toyed with the idea since I remember those years well, lol, and your high praise might make me start it sooner than later.
Have a good week ahead, Laurel!

    1. When I started watching Mad Men, I wasn’t sure about it, but then I became addicted to the characters, those clothes, and the (ugly!) interiors that took me back…and the fun and intense interactions between the characters. However, be prepared. Your addiction (if that happens to you) might keep you on the couch and watching until very late.

Thanks for stopping by, Rita, and I am enjoying my son and DIL visiting again; we also share addictions. And my son, at 6’5″ is a great human ladder, reaching up and clearing out the top shelf of my tallest bookcase. LOL

    1. Thanks for stopping by, and I have enjoyed everything about Mad Men, but some of the characters are definitely unlikeable…but fun to watch. I am looking forward to The Girls of August. Thanks for stopping by, Yvonne.

    1. I’m glad you like my stuff, Elizabeth…I enjoy sharing the cozy feeling it all evokes for me. I am excited about the Kate Morton book, as I’ve been ogling her novels for a while, but haven’t read her yet. Have a great week!

Ooh The Lake House, I hope it’s wonderful. Not available on NetGalley for us Aussie’s yet but I’m not giving up lol. The rest of your options look great too, I laughed at your 3.30am binge viewing, I did the same thing with seasons of Scandal and paid for the lack of sleep more than once lol.
Have a great week and happy reading 🙂

I can sit and read for hours, or stand and listen to an audiobook while I do something else, but sitting and watching a TV show is something that makes me restless. I am always trying to do something else. Have a great week!

    1. Thanks, Steph, and I have to be careful with those long sessions on the couch…sometimes I do exercises (leg lifts, etc.) while watching. I do have an exercise bike parked near the bedroom TV, but that set doesn’t have Netflix access…LOL.

  10. Pretty Girls sounds good. I’ve never read this author but this one sounds right up my alley. I’ll be curious to hear your thoughts.
Also, I have yet to watch Mad Men! I know, I know… I might wait until all seasons are on Netflix though (I’m cheap too, haha!)

  11. Glad you are enjoying Mad Men. I’m not up to season 7 yet but the last episodes haven’t been released here on DVD. I think I’ll wait until I can binge!
I can’t wait for The Lake House. Kate Morton’s books are always stellar.

    1. Yes, only the first seven episodes of Season 7 are on Netflix…and maybe I should have waited, but that ship has sailed. LOL.

Enjoy your week, Sam, and thanks for visiting. I am eager to read The Lake House.

  12. Your house is full again and mine has emptied out – we are definitely on opposite schedules, lol!

The Lake House sounds good and I almost bought Anne Rivers Siddons book… maybe I still will. Haven’t read her in a while, but always loved her novels.

Enjoy the guests… blogging will wait 🙂

    1. Thanks, JoAnn, and isn’t it fun to shake up the schedule a bit? It has been a long time since I had house guests (except for this year, of course) and I was getting a little set in my ways…LOL. Enjoy your week!

I’ve never seen Mad Me. I think I’ve finished series binging for a while. I’m still trying to keep up with my reading but darn work is getting in my way. Thanks for visiting my blog. Happy reading!

  15. I can’t bring myself to binge on Netflix! I try but I tell my husband that “my brain’s oozing out of my ears” after just a couple of hours. Oh well! More reading time, right?

I keep hearing so many good things about Kate Morton but I haven’t read any of her books yet. I do own The House at Riverton, so I know I’ll get to her someday.

    Have fun with the Berliners!

  16. I hope you are having fun with the Berliners once again and watching lots of Mad Men. I haven’t gotten into that series yet but I’m hooked and waiting for Season 4 of Homeland. I look forward to your word on Kate Morton’s The Lake House. I’m sure it’s similar to her others … Enjoy your week!
