What a week!  It was cooler, we even had a little rain, and I read some great books!  I took a load of books to the library, after clearing more off my shelves.

  1. Wow… a huge number of posts last week and some good looking books this week. I think I read something by Carla Buckley but will have to check what it was. The name’s familiar anyway.

And how young (and beautiful) does Jane Fonda look in that cover?! Wow!

    1. I have enjoyed a couple of Buckley’s books, so I’m eager to begin this one. And yes, I sort of went crazy with the posting…LOL.

I agree about Jane Fonda…and I would have purchased it for my Kindle, but I wanted to see the photographs.

Thanks for stopping by, Deborah, and have a great week.

  2. You were busy on the blogs this week. Like the look of the Jane Fonda book and the memoir. Always interesting to look into other people’s lives! Drooling over the yummy breakfast. I had to be out of my house for 4 hours after a spray for ants and other insects so I bought a pie to eat while reading at the seaside. Forgotten how challenging it is to eat a pie out of a paper back but it was tasty!

      1. Ha-ha…Yes, I know what you mean! And that sounds wonderful, reading and eating pie by the seaside. Thanks for stopping by, Kathryn, and I’m eager to read the Jane Fonda book…I’ve read a couple of other books about her and by her, too. This one is a biography, so it should be interesting.

  3. Mmm, omelets. Love ’em LOL. Nice reviews of Spectacular Now and Good Neighbor- I remember seeing Spectacular Now last year and looking it over. I think they made a movie too? Your thoughts make me kinda want to give it a try. And The Good Neighbor- sounds like she gets in a spot of trouble, I can see that one being fun.

Great week, hope this one is good too!

    1. Yes, I enjoyed both books, and I saw the movie for Spectacular Now….and then downloaded the book. I do love omelets, Greg, although I only eat them at restaurants like Mimi’s….thanks for stopping by.

  4. Sounds like a non stressful week. My mailman screwed up big time. I have 3 books I’m waiting for but the post office hasn’t received anything for me yet the mailman left a parcel pick up note . I don’t know what happened but I’m not happy about it. I shall wait another week

    Like

    1. Oh, Jackie, I hate when that happens! Or sometimes I get the pick up notice when the post office isn’t open and it’s a Saturday night, with Sunday and Monday to wait! I am impatient. Good luck sorting it all out, and thanks for stopping by.

  5. Glad you managed to clear some of your book shelves. I always find it very therapeutic but I also find it hard to get rid of book’s LOL your breakfast looked yummy. Have a great week

    1. It is therapeutic, and that feeling outweighs (for me) the fear of losing a book I once loved…I can’t think of that part! I don’t know why I am so ferociously purging, but it started a few months ago and it won’t let go. LOL. Thanks for stopping by, Megan, and I really enjoyed that breakfast.

    1. Yes, it was great, despite the thunder and lightning…it seems to be over now. And I finished Rainy Day Sisters…and it was the kind of book I love to savor.

Hope you have a wonderful week, Rita, and thanks for visiting.

    1. Thanks, Yvonne, hope you enjoy your week….and I’m glad you liked the look of the breakfast. When my son and DIL were here, we went out a lot and my DIL always photographed the food. She took great delight in it, which was fun.

    1. The book cabinet contained the books I had culled from my shelves…LOL. My shopping has primarily been for Pippa lately…I want to enjoy the “thinner” shelves in my rooms. Thanks for stopping by, Elizabeth, and if you don’t like Bloody Marys, you might enjoy mimosas!

      Enjoy your week.

    1. I had read one Mary Karr memoir a few years ago, called Lit. This one is supposedly her first memoir, followed by another called Cherry. So I’ve been reading them out of order. But I am looking forward to her newest one, too. Thanks for visiting, vvb.

    1. This is one of her older books, Trish…I started with Hello from the Gillespies, which came out a little bit after this one…and there is a newer one with a similar cover called Odd One Out, which I have to get my hands on. Thanks for stopping by, and I just finished Rainy Day Sisters…and loved it!

  6. The Cue Card

Oh The Liar’s Club. That’s an oldie but I recall it being pretty rough or bleak but some good writing. I’ll be interested to hear what you think of Kate Morton’s new one too. I liked her Forgotten Garden. Her books are very readable for sure. I’m off to see my parents this week in SoCal and my Dad wants to see The Intern. ha! How sweet. 🙂 Enjoy your week!

    1. Hope you enjoy The Intern….and I don’t know why it has taken me so long to get The Liar’s Club…I read Lit a few years ago.

The Lake House will be my first by Kate Morton, but I suspect that it won’t be my last.

Thanks for stopping by, Susan, and have a great week.

Rainy Day Sisters has a brilliant cover, I hope you enjoy it 😀 I know I shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, but it’s so pretty!
Also, a huge congratulations on taking some books to the library 🙂 For me, that’s something I find VERY difficult to do… there’s that connection, you know? When it’s a fantastic book and you can think of a million reasons why you shouldn’t give it away. I think I might be a book hoarder! Eeep!
    Have a great week,
    Amy x

    1. I have been a book hoarder for several years. I had a lot of books when I moved in here eight years ago, and have accumulated even more. When I started purging, I had 1435 physical books (not counting my e-books), so I knew it was time to thin them out. I think I’m down to 500 or less now…I haven’t done a head count since the last purge.

Thanks for stopping by, Amy, and enjoy your week.

Omg! Even my eyes popped out at that, and that’s saying something. Well done! I can’t believe you e got rid of nearly 1,000 books! :-O thankfully mines all Ebooks now, makes it a lot easier doesn’t it? It’s brilliant for hoarders 😀 he he x

      2. I realized it as I started hauling huge stacks, like the ones pictured above…and I’ve been doing this a few times….LOL; and e-books are better to collect, as they stay nicely hidden.

Wow those books just keep coming LOL. Beautiful cover on House of Memories, I enjoyed it but the cover of my copy wasn’t that pretty! Looking forward to your thoughts on Rainy Day Sisters, it’s waiting patiently for me on my kindle. Have a great week and happy reading.

    1. I loved Rainy Day Sisters…I reviewed it here on the Rainy Days and Mondays blog…LOL. I love the cover on House of Memories, too, but since I’m reading it on Pippa, I don’t get to see the cover…sigh.

Thanks for stopping by, Teddyree…enjoy your week!

    1. Thanks, Pat, and I only recognize her from the photo because I’ve seen a lot of her old movies: a favorite was Barefoot in the Park, with Robert Redford. I’m showing my age here…LOL.

Enjoy your week, and I’m glad you could stop by. Hope you enjoy The Dance Begins. It’s short, but gives us a glimpse of the past for the characters.

The breakfast looks good. I am also purging some books from my collection. Our middle school is doing a book drive for Mayo Clinic Pediatric Intensive Care. I’m unloading three big bags of picture books. Here is what I read last week. Happy reading!

I’ve read a couple of Monica McInerney books now, and whilst they tend to be lengthy – something I usually shy away from – I think her layered plots and developed plots are worth the length!

    Happy Reading!

Stopping for breakfast is a wonderful treat, and one I don’t do often enough. With or without the Bloody Mary. 🙂
