WEEKLY UPDATES: A DAY IN THE LIFE, ETC.

Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.

**Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.

And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.

Happy Easter, for those who celebrate it.  I am pleased with the sunshine I see around me, although there is a hint of rain to come in the next week.  What a week this has been, struggling still with the new meds after three weeks…and finally, a discussion and a decision:  back to the old meds!  Such a relief.

One event this past week was so much fun for me:  A Day in the Life, (click for my post), hosted by Trish, at Love, Laughter, & a Touch of Insanity.  (Love that title!).

I also managed to read and review four books, and participate in Bloggiesta events. (Click to read about what I accomplished).  For my Read the Books You Buy Challenge, I have now read and reviewed 23 books!

I did not binge-watch quite as much on Netflix, but did enjoy watching some more episodes of Broadchurch.

Let’s take a look at the rest of the week…

WHAT’S UP NEXT? (Titles/Covers Linked to Amazon)

My reading has been somewhat fluid this past week, and I want to stick to that nebulous plan; but maybe these titles will grab me this week, some I’ve brought forward from the “back” of Pippa, my Kindle.  Or I might impulsively grab a newer book, but let’s take a look at some possibilities:

If You Lived Here, You’d Be Home Now (e-book), by Claire LaZebnik

Virgin River (e-book), by Robyn Carr

That’s my week…what did yours look like?  Enjoy Spring, Easter, and whatever pleases you this weekend.  Have a mimosa or two.

  1. My goodness, so many good books! I enjoyed reading your Day in the Life as well as everyone else’s posts. So much fun– I’ll remember to do it next year also and see how things have changed up for me then.

Are you on season one or two of Broadchurch? I watched all of season one and was waiting for the second, but of course I forget to write shows down and unless you remember what you’re looking for, the search on Netflix doesn’t help much.

I loved your review for Brooklyn! I was born in Brooklyn so this would be a good read for me. I had bought the paperback of it that released originally, not the movie-tie-in, and the print was so small that I gave it to my SIL who enjoyed it. I think I’ll get it on my Kindle so I can make the font bigger.

I read the original Must Love Dogs and several others by Claire Cook. She’s a fun author– I liked her story about the mother and daughter going to college together… because a few years ago my younger daughter, son and I all attended the same community college at the same time. It was literally 3 minutes from our old home 🙂 Was an experience I will always treasure!

Happy for you to be back on the correct meds. It certainly makes life easier! Have a great Easter!

    1. Thanks, Rita, and I just finished Season I of Broadchurch. I keep track by adding movies/shows to my queue on Netflix, so it’s easy to find them again; on my player, it asks me if I want to continue watching whatever I was on last.

Of course, I also write down the seasons and the episodes, so I have lots of notepaper stuffed into little mugs on my coffee table. OCD much?

I loved both the book and the movie Must Love Dogs…with Diane Lane in the movie.

Loved Brooklyn, both the book and the movie.

So happy to be feeling better!

  2. You’re doing so well with the read the books you own challenge, well done! I think once i’m a bit more caught up with review books (I got very behind when I hit a reading slump earlier this year) then I probably need a challenge like this.

Garden Spells is one of my favourite books, it’s gorgeous. I love Sarah Addison Allen, she can do no wrong in my eyes! 🙂

Hope you enjoy reading your new books this week

    1. Thanks, Hayley…I am looking forward to Garden Spells. I’ve had it on my Kindle since January 2015, so it won’t count for this challenge (nothing before June 2015); in fact, all the books I’ve listed to read this week won’t count. But I still love clearing them off my Kindle.

  3. Happy Easter! This weekend crept up on me, I didn’t even think of Easter as I was putting my Sunday Post together. Time is getting away from me lately… ha ha. Anyway glad you had some sun. It was nice to see your Day in the Life post- I’ll have to do that one next year, it looks fun.

Duplicate Keys sounds good- nice review of that. I’m curious about the 80’s setting and the fact that they were so free and easy w/ their keys- sounds like a bad idea. 🙂

    1. Oh, I know, I was also very frustrated with the casual way the characters in Duplicate Keys handled their lives. But I do recall from the 60s and 70s that many people I knew were very “laidback.” I know that wouldn’t work for me, and I don’t think I was ever that casual about safety.

Thanks for stopping by, Greg, and I think you’ll enjoy A Day in the Life. It was fun reading all of those posts, too. Happy Easter!

After three weeks, going back on the old meds sounds pretty good – I hope that helps!
Lucy Barton sounds really good, and Terrible Virtue and the Nest have gorgeous covers! I hope you enjoy all of those!
I need some sunshine now too, soak it in! Happy Easter 🙂

    1. Thanks, Annika, I am looking forward to that mimosa…later; I am also looking forward to all these new books, and hope to get to them sooner rather than later. The Read the Books You Buy Challenge gives me “permission” to read new books! LOL.

I am definitely relieved to be off those awful meds…it feels as though a weight has lifted, and certainly the pain has gone.

    1. Thanks, Daniela, I am feeling lighter now, without the worry about what new horrible side effects would crop up next.

I have enjoyed some books by SAA, so looking forward to Garden Spells. Love the cover! Enjoy your week!

    1. Thanks, Laura, I always enjoy Bloggiesta, and have been doing it for years. I don’t dive into a lot of beneath the surface stuff, too techie for me, but I enjoy a spruce up. That’s the fun of it…you do what you want and as little or much as you want.

    1. Oh, too bad, Bryan…I just finished Season 1, so I was all primed to start the second one today, maybe. Perhaps I’ll give it a rest….but I won’t be able to resist my curiosity about what sent it downhill. Thanks for stopping by, and enjoy your week.

    1. Thanks, Gen, Bloggiesta is fun because you can do as little or much as you want within the time frame. Or you can even start early, like I did. Sometimes I continue changing things for a while…LOL.

      Enjoy your week!

  9. Garden Spells has been tempting me lately. I’ve wanted to read it for awhile and I loved the one book by Sarah Addison Allen that I did read and now I’m coming across it here. The Nest looks good too and I want to try more by Sophie Hannah. I watched the first few episodes of Broadchurch and it was sooo good but it was almost too well done for me. They tackle such tough issues. Have a great week!

    1. I finished Broadchurch…watched all 8 episodes of the final Season (II), and now I want more. But every show ends. Unless there is another season coming. I can’t wait for more seasons for some of my other favorites.

I like the look of The Nest, too, Katherine…enjoy your week!

  10. I am trying not to click over to see what you thought of Somewhere Out There as I have it up soon. I liked Lucy Barton better than Olive Kitteridge. Have a great week. I am sure it will be so much better now that you are back on meds that don’t drive you nuts!

    1. Oh, so much better, Nise….the past two days have felt pretty normal…almost, but no pain or other tricky effects.

I don’t trust doctors, since every new drug has tons of side effects, and they don’t even seem to give them a second thought.

I hope to get to Lucy Barton soon…enjoy your week!

  11. Looks like you had another busy and productive week. I love the sound of Must Love Dogs, New Leash on Life. I vaguely remember enjoying the movie! I didn’t know there was a series.
The Orphan Choir looks interesting. I’ll be watching for your thoughts on that.
Glad you enjoyed your Day in the Life post which looked like a fun event to join.
    Happy Reading!

I got my hands on The Nest too this week (though a paper copy!), but I’ve also been eyeing My Name is Lucy Barton a lot. I’m thinking I might go audio for this one.

I wish you a good week of reading and living! 🙂

    1. Thanks, Mary…I had no problems with the old meds…it was the doctor’s idea to change things up! Why? Some new meds that appealed to her for some reason? Who knows? Anyway…I am trying to change doctors. Ever since I started with this one, it’s been one battle after another. LOL.

I am hoping to enjoy the new books…have a great week, and thanks for stopping by.

I haven’t even been outside today…I like a Monday nesting on the couch. LOL. But it wasn’t raining when I peeked outside when I first woke up.

I love Ellen Feldman’s books, and Terrible Virtue sounds really great, doesn’t it? Enjoy your week!

I have been sick since we came back from Vancouver. 😦 Actually just got out of bed this morning. Got home Monday evening and went straight to bed and stayed in bed all day yesterday. That’s why I am so late visiting everyone.

Hope your week is going well.
