WEEKLY UPDATES: HELLO, APRIL!

PicMonkey Collage-RD LOGO

Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.

**Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.

And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.

The week flew by, and despite the sunshine outside, I curled up on my sofa for most of it.  Still, my numbers this week were not impressive:  three books read and reviewed.  But they were books to savor, and all of them were older purchases.

I found a new Netflix series to watch:  The Ranch.  Eager to see what I will find to love about it.

Visited my daughter at her salon to update my look and enjoy a chat with her.

  1. Glad it was nice out, and yay for a new Netflix series lol. That’s always a good feeling to find a new show. I’m on the hunt myself a bit as I’ve watched everything I wanted to, and went to Amazon to see what Netflix didn’t have, so I’ll have to look for a new show myself!

The PErfect Neighbors looks good, I like the idea of the secrets in an upscale community, and both Breakdown and friction look like they could be good suspenseful reads too. Have a great weekend and happy reading. 🙂

  2. I wondered about The Perfect Neighbor but refuse to look at many review books until I read the swag I have! Nice to see the second Virgin River book appearing on your reading plans!

    1. I started Most Wanted last night and hardly got any sleep! I am loving it, and there are some surprising events around each twist and turn. Thanks for stopping by, Laura, and enjoy your week.

    1. Yes! I was drooling over it long before I got it, and so pleased that I finally did. Hope to start reading it in a couple of months…I guess I could read it now and not post the review until then. We’ll see how long I hold out. Thanks for stopping by, Cleo, and enjoy your week.

  3. A couple of familiar books there this week Laurel.

I LOVE your comment about The Ranch… that you’re going into it positively wondering already what you’ll like about it rather than wondering IF you’ll like it!

    1. Thanks, Emma, I know that I loved finally getting to read some of those older books that have been hanging around….enjoy your week, and I’m glad you could stop by…and yes, that old couch got a work-out this week.

I need to focus on reading some of my older books. I keep hearing about The Ranch, but I’ve never seen it. Hope it’s good! Yay for the next Virgin River book!!

  5. I read and enjoyed Friction and want Most Wanted and Breakdown. I still am loyal to Kellerman, even though I’ve missed the last 2 or 3 Delaware books.

The Perfect Neighbors has been on my wishlist. I’ve read two books by her. One called Heartbeat was a really good one. The other one they opened a Vermont B & B, yikes, forget the title at the moment. Anyway, it should be a good read for you.

Have a relaxing weekend and have fun.

    1. I haven’t read more than a couple Pekkanen books, but enjoyed them…and love the sound of The Perfect Neighbors. I try to pick my Kellerman books from the blurb, as some are more enjoyable than others. I love Alex Delaware.

I am loving Most Wanted…must get back to it soon! Thanks for stopping by, Rita, and enjoy your week.

  6. I haven’t heard about The Ranch. I’m always on the look out for new Netflix series to watch. I’ve had Shelter Mountain on my TBR forever. I loved the first one.

Hope you have a great week!

  7. It’s great that you read books you’d purchased a while ago this week. What a feeling of accomplishment to get them off the shelves… even if they might be virtual shelves! I’m going to concentrate on older books when we get back home and I have access to my TBR stacks again. The Nest is one of the new books I want to read. Added my name to the library hold list this week.

    1. It was fun to see The Ranch…it did have a laugh track, which I’m not used to in Netflix shows…but after a while, I didn’t notice. I love that it has some of my old favorite actors, like Sam Elliott and Debra Winger. And then, of course, there is Ashton Kutcher.

      Thanks for stopping by, Tracy…

  8. I enjoyed what little I read of Sarah Pekkanen, and this one sounds good too!
I heard of The Ranch, but I haven’t yet decided if it’s something I’m interested it. I’d love to hear your thoughts on it! This week we’ve been catching up with the latest season of House of Cards. We’re about halfway through it and it’s been exciting!

    1. Oh, I love House of Cards, Kay…already finished Season 4 and now I am eager for the next season….but, of course, it will be a while.

The Ranch is fun…watched four episodes so far. I like seeing some old favorites, like Sam Elliott and Debra Winger, and Ashton Kutcher is okay….

      Enjoy your week!

    1. Oh, yes, I did enjoy finishing books I’ve had too long….and I hope to do better in the future…read more of them and sooner, before they are old. Thanks for stopping by, Kathy, and I’m excited about the new Sarah Pekkanen. Enjoy your week!

    1. When I signed up for the “Read the Books You Buy” Challenge, I knew I would be working on books I’d had for a while, but that challenge really covers the more recent ones. However, digging into books I’d purchased led me to the older ones, too. I am trying to mix things up now. Thanks for stopping by, Laura, and The Ranch is light and fun. With a laugh track. LOL.

      Enjoy your week!

  10. I am afraid to check out The Ranch! I have so many shows in the queue! Gotta check out the Sarah Pekkanen book. I always start out so well with a plan to read the books on the shelves, but always get distracted! Have a great week, hope it is full of reading.

  11. Sounds like you had a great reading week and a salon makeover can be a lot of fun. It looks like you have a terrific collection of books to choose from. I am curious about The Nest. I’ve read it might be a good beach read.

  12. Hope you are enjoying the sunshine. We are soaking it up here in Portland, Oregon after such a long wet winter. I didn’t get as much reading done either this week as I was outside and too tired at night. I liked Friction, I hope you do too.

    1. Thanks, Heidi, I’m expecting to love Friction, too. And I wasn’t sure how much good our rain did, but I guess it was better than expected, so while it doesn’t END the drought, it has improved things.

      Enjoy your sunshine!

  14. Great Post! I got a couple of recommendations and let me know if Honest Illusions by Nora Roberts is good! I think that its pretty impressive how much you can read, I at best can read a book or two a week!

Friction, as you know, is one I would like to read. I am already for the weekend and it’s only Tuesday! I hope you have a good week, Laurel-Rain!

I have been wanting to read The Nest, from what I’ve heard it is pretty addicting. The Ranch sounds like a really entertaining show, sadly I don’t have Netflix so I’ll have to wait until it is on DVD. I hope you are enjoying your binge-watch and are having a great week.
