WEEKLY UPDATES: WELCOME TO MY “NEW” VENUE!

Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.

**Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.

And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.

Welcome to our New Venue for the upcoming weeks (or months).  I do like moving events around to my various sites.  This blog was feeling “overlooked.”

Another week has flown by, but despite the fact that I had outings, including lunch at Pismo’s with a friend, I actually read more than usual.  FOUR books and one short story.  My Read the Books You Buy total is now 95!

I didn’t watch Netflix at all this week, but I did enjoy catching up on my DVR.  I deleted some of the recorded Christmas movies after watching for less than half an hour.  Why?  Well, I guess I was starting to get a sugar rush.  LOL.

I have a low tolerance for Christmas sentimentality, with all of it’s saccharine moments.  A little bit goes a long way.  I did enjoy the Dolly Parton Circle of Love movie, with that sweet little actress who plays “Faith” on The Young and the Restless. (Alyvia Alyn Lind).

Let’s take a look at the week….and enjoy caffeine while you read.

That’s it for my week.  What did yours look like?  I have no lovely food to showcase this week…but here’s another glimpse of my Christmas decorations.  I found the red table runner and place mats in a drawer…I had forgotten about them!

  1. I’m doing something similar to this but I’m doing my week wrap-up posts on Fridays with no link ups. I only highlight what I read, what my weekend reading plans are, and my winter bingo progress. I’m taking a hiatus from Friday 56 and wanted something in place of it.

    1. Thanks, Kathryn, and yes, finding “lost” items is great. I remembered the runner and place mats after looking at my photo albums (the physical ones) and saw some pretty tablecloths that I hadn’t seen in ages.

The photos on the computer need to be organized better so that I can find things there, too. Thanks for visiting.

A little Christmas movie goes a long way, I think sometimes. It’s fun to get in the spirit a bit but yeah sugar rush is a good way to describe it, ha ha- it can be a bit much after a while. Nice week of reading! I watched a little Netflix, but not much.

I’m looking forward to your thoughts on The Woman in Cabin 10 and Missing, Presumed. I’ve read the first one but not the second, but I’m enjoying thrillers a lot of late.

    1. I had to download The Woman in Cabin 10 right after I finished In a Dark, Dark Wood. And I’ve seen good reviews of Missing, Presumed.

Thanks for stopping by, Greg, and enjoy the week. I might check out Netflix tomorrow.

I can see how you would get a sugar rush after watching too many holiday movies. LOL That’s exactly what I’ve been craving lately, I admit. Good for you for staying away from Netflix! I watched The Little Rascals Saves the Day with my daughter this afternoon. She loved it, and I thought it was cute. 🙂

I haven’t seen any of the Dolly Parton movie, but I know people are raving about it. Maybe someday. I wish I could say I had done much reading this week, but at least I did get to listen to my audio book more than usual.

I hope you have a great week, Laurel-Rain.

    1. Thanks for visiting, Wendy, and I can’t imagine a time when I would use audio books…although I can see how they might work well if you’re running around, doing other things, etc. Enjoy!

I might actually watch a little Netflix today. It’s been raining, I went out yesterday (I try to have one stay-at-home day on the weekend, and I’m eager to start reading some of my books). Enjoy your week!

    1. Good point, Rachel, and the thing about the holiday movies…they are so predictable! But I guess that’s true of most romantic movies. But add in Christmas “magic,” and it’s too much for me. LOL.

Enjoy your week! Thanks for stopping by.

  4. With all your blogs that’s bound to happen 🙂 I like the header on this one. I’ve been changing my blog look around, just because I can’t find the type of look I want.

I love Bohjalian so enjoy that book and I look forward to your opinion. I also want that new Krentz book. Have a good week, and four books, wow… You are on a roll!

    1. Thanks, Rita, and I do love changing my blogs up, too. My first WP blog (An Interior Journey), which began life named “Explorations,” has had a lot of changes. From the various names, the merging of other blogs with it, etc. I started a page there with its various headers so I could look back. I didn’t think of it in time to capture them all…but I see a trend.

This blog has had a lot of “versions,” too, as it started on Blogger…and I moved it here two years ago.

I started the prequel to the Bohjalian book, and I’m enjoying it, but with prequels, I always feel as though I’m having an appetizer; I want to get to the main course! Later today, I hope.

Enjoy your week, and hopefully you will find just what you want for your blog.

    1. Thanks, JoAnn…I finished the prequel and it definitely “teased” me about what’s to come in The Sleepwalker. I’m still trying to decide if I will start The Sleepwalker right now, or read another book first, since the release date is 1/10. Hmm.

I am very excited about it, though. Enjoy getting back into your routine, and thanks for visiting.

    1. Thanks for visiting, Laura, and mine will definitely look bare afterwards, as I didn’t eliminate any of my regular stuff to make room…

Enjoy your week…and I watched Amazon this afternoon (Goliath) and really got caught up in it. It was definitely not a Christmas feature!

  5. My word, you’ve been busy with your blogging, Laurel! I also LOVE your Christmas decor. You clearly have a flair for making your surroundings beautiful… I’m with you in having very little patience with Christmas treacle – and my reading is not remotely seasonal. I’m far too random to plan ahead like that:). Have a great week – this is my Sunday Post – https://sjhigbee.wordpress.com/2016/12/11/sunday-post-11th-december-2016/

    1. Thanks, Sarah, and yes, it would require planning (and buying some) for me to add Christmas books to my list…I have a similar problem in the summer, although I do get in a little beach reading during that season.

I love decorating, as you can tell, but Christmas decorating is not as much fun for me, as it requires hauling bins, etc.

Thanks for visiting, and enjoy your week.

    1. Thanks, Anna, and I have deleted more Christmas movies than I watched. Maybe one out of four were watched. LOL.

Right now I’m enjoying old movies on my DVR, like Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman in All the President’s Men…and yesterday, I watched Nicolas Cage in Matchstick Men.

      Enjoy your week!

  6. The Woman in Cabin 10 sounds really good. Like you, I haven’t been watching Netflix lately. I’ve been concentrating on watching the stuff on my DVR. I couldn’t take too many of the Christmas movies either for the same reason 🙂 Hope you have a great week!

    1. Thanks, Yvonne, I am looking forward to it, too. As for TV, I ended up watching Goliath on Amazon Prime…and it has completely captivated me. I wasn’t sure I’d enjoy it, as Billy Bob Thornton is a “take him or leave him” actor. LOL

      Enjoy your week!

    1. Thanks, Majanka, The Premonition “teased” me enough that I really can’t wait to read The Sleepwalker. I have one more book to finish first (I think). Enjoy your week, and I’m anxious to read The Woman in Cabin 10, too.

  7. Love your festive decoration pics, thanks for sharing. It looks like it was a positive week on the reading front. Good to see the two Ruth Ware books on your shelves, I was given both by a fellow bookworm to read. I also have Missing, Presumed sitting on my TBR pile 🙂

    1. The Premonition is the prequel…and is very short, only 44 pages, so you get a taste of The Sleepwalker….which I hope to read by next week, if not this week. Thanks for visiting, Kathy, and I have my slow weeks, too, and this one might be one of those. Enjoy your Christmas activities…and reading when you get a chance.

  8. Too many sugary Christmas movies eh? LOL. I think I’m down to watching 2 Christmas ones per year, which are usually: Love Actually and Elf. You’re on a roll with your reading! Enjoy your week.

    1. Thanks for visiting, Susan, and I just thought of another movie that I love to watch on the holidays: The Holiday, with Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz. It’s not syrupy sweet, but lots of fun…trading houses, etc.

      Enjoy your week!

  9. Four books – you are putting us all to shame – especially me! I can’t cope with Christmas movies much…like you say too sweet for my tastes though we will watch White Christmas most likely Christmas Eve. I really want to read the Woman in Cabin 10. I keep meaning to buy the book then forgetting and I loved Missing, Presumed…hope you enjoy and have a good week.

  10. I haven’t watched many Christmas movies this year for the reasons you listed but that may change in a week or so as I get things crossed off my list of things to do. I’m curious about the new Bohjalian book.

  11. I have The Woman in Cabin 10 to read as well! I also have In A Dark, Dark Wood on my iPod waiting to be listened to. I need to get back to the Detective D.D. Warren series! Hope you enjoy your new books! They look great!!

    1. Thanks for visiting, Nise. I would love to have a Smart TV….with Netflix in it. As it is, I watch Netflix, Amazon Videos, Hulu, etc., on a BluRay player. That works, too.

      I love Longmire! I’ve finished everything that’s available…hoping for a new season.

On Amazon, I’ve been watching Goliath. Once I get into a series, I am lost and unable to focus on other things. LOL.
