Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.
**Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.
And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.
Another week flew by, and it was mostly sunshine around here. So I did get out and about some, but always took Pippa with me, resulting in FOUR books read and reviewed. Twenty-Two is now my total for the Read the Books You Buy Challenge...not a big leap this week, as three of the books I read were Vine and NetGalley review books.
Did anyone watch the Oscars? I loved Jimmy Kimmel’s banter, as well as some of the shots he got in on “one who will remain nameless.” The mix-up at the end was horrific…and a little hilarious. As usual, I recorded it and watched afterwards, fast-forwarding through the parts that are less enjoyable to me. I have not seen Moonlight...or La La Land, the “almost” win. Both got a lot of awards. I saw and enjoyed Manchester by the Sea...and now must see Fences. Viola Davis is a great actress, IMO, with such diversity in the roles she plays. I feel like seeing The Help again this weekend.
Now…today. What to do! I should go shopping for that Mother of the Bride dress, as April 1 is coming so fast. (My hilarious daughter, picking April Fool’s Day!). And I suspect I might need several shopping trips. But I don’t love shopping…unless it’s on Amazon. Books and handbags are my favorite items to buy. I can get them on Amazon, but I shouldn’t order the dress there. LOL.
Instead of deciding, I’m going to grab another cup of coffee…and chat about my week.

All the best for the dress shopping. Still haven’t done mine. I have been hearing that Amy Hatvany and Nicola Moriarty are good authors, just haven’t tried them yet so I guess will one day.

Thanks for the good wishes…I actually found two possibilities….and then decided on the second one I bought. I liked both dresses, though.
I love Hatvany…and haven’t yet tried Nicola Moriarty. I wonder if she’s related to the other Moriarty authors?
Thanks for visiting, Kathryn, and have a great week.

Sunshine is nice. We have had some but also a lot of wind! I loved La La Land and want to see Manchester by the Sea. That mix up at the end of the Oscars was so bad though. They all handled it well though. I am getting Dead Letters from my BOTM nd excited. Hope you enjoy have great week!

Thanks, Grace, and hope to watch La La Land at some point.
I couldn’t believe that mix up at the Oscars. When Warren Beatty was hesitating before reading the card, I thought he was having a “senior moment.” What a relief that he wasn’t!
I am excited about Dead Letters, too. Enjoy!

I didn’t watch the Oscars, but got to live it vicariously through Facebook. I would probably record and fast forward through the boring, too!

Thanks, Charlie, and I should be more interested in the “directing, producing, and other awards behind the scenes,” but I can find out about them without having to watch. Love that fast-forward button. LOL.

I didn’t see any of the Oscars but I did hear about the now- infamous mix- up, yikes. And I don’t think I’ve seen ANY of the nominees this year! Kinda crazy. Anyway glad you had a sunshine- y week, we had a little sun peek through but it got cold again. But hey we’re in March now, the worst is over, right? *knocks on wood*
Ooh you reviewed How Will I Know You. I need to go read and see what you thought. 🙂
Happy weekend!

Thanks for stopping by, Greg…I definitely want to see Fences…and maybe La La Land. But I don’t get to the movies as much as I once did. It’s easier to wait until the movies appear on one of the premium channels….or On Demand.
Very happy for the sunshine. I went out shopping today, and it was almost HOT!

Hi! I haven’t been around for quite some time – so lovely to see all the familiar “faces”. Can’t believe your daughter is getting married on the 1st of April…! LOL. Good one. Go buy a really stunning dress, but dress-up in a clown suit over it and watch her reaction….. Need to come play on your “playground” this week, need a few new books to read and I know I will always find some inspiration here.
Take care and here’s a link to my Sunday Post: http://marelithalkink.blogspot.co.za/2017/03/the-sunday-post-headlines-and-failure_5.html

Thanks, Sarah, I ended up buying two dresses, after visiting two stores! The first I started having second thoughts about on the way home, and went back to the other store and tried on one that I wasn’t sure of…and I was surprised that it actually looked good! So now…it’s the one. The first one, I can wear to other events, and will love it for those parties.
Enjoy your week.

I’ve watched half of Manchester (my husband gave up mid-movie, saying there were no positive characters) and that’s it for me for movies. I finished a couple of books this week, so that’s good. You had a great week, I see.

I used to hate the grocery store, but always enjoyed book shopping. Now I don’t mind the grocery store, since, in retirement, I don’t feel as hassled, and I order most of my books on Amazon.
But the clothes shopping…not fun. I hate trying on clothes, especially when I’m trying several different outfits. Afterwards, I always feel cranky. So…luckily, I only had to go to two stores, found two dresses, and one of them met with my daughter’s approval for the wedding. The other I can wear to the reception the next day. So that’s behind me now!
Thanks for visiting, Laura, and have a great week.

I enjoyed my four books…and hope to have another good week. Enjoy yours!

I recorded and watched the Oscars later because I like to fast forward boring parts as well. I thought Jimmy was a great host–very easy going. Viola Davis’s acceptance speech made me tear up.
Alas, my recording cut out the last part, so I never saw the snafu. Oh well, I know it was uncomfortable for everyone. I haven’t seen any of the movies mentioned this year. Honestly, I have no interest in La La Land.
Good luck on your shopping and have fun! ~Aleen

Yesterday was sunny and a good day for shopping, and luckily, I found two dresses, one of which I’ll wear to the wedding. Enjoy your week!

All of your books look so good. A few of them are on my wishlist.
I actually had the chance to see all the Oscar nominated movies this year. That never happened before. My favorites were Hidden Figures, Lion and Fences. I was so happy for Viola Davis. I couldn’t believe what happened at the end. How horrible for everyone involved. I loved Jimmy Kimmel as the host. I thought he made it so enjoyable and not boring like it usually is.
Have a great week!
