Sunny days are here again….with temperatures from 93 – 99 (Today through Monday); and the books I’ve read this week were so enjoyable!  Only THREE, with one of them a review book, so my Read the Books You Buy Challenge total is now 43.

I’ve gone a little crazy with NetGalley requests lately, not really expecting to get them all right away, but the ones I received are spread out a little bit.  I have a total of EIGHT on my Kindle, with release dates in June, July, August, and September.

Netflix is bringing out new seasons for some favorites, like Season III of Bloodline this week.  I started watching Midsomer Murders, and I am still glued to an episode at a time of 13 Reasons Why.

On TV, Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal had their season finales this week.  I am enjoying Season III of Better Call Saul.

So….that’s a peek at my week.  Let’s take a closer look…

That was my week.  What did yours look like?  I had lunch at The Yard House with my daughter on Monday…but forgot to photograph it!  Instead, here is this lunch I had at home before heading to the salon on Wednesday.  Greek Yogurt, Ritz Crackers, and red wine.  Eating simple food while gazing at my growing book stack…again.

    Yay for warm temps- unless they get too warm! Looks like you’re getting in that territory with the 90’s… we had about three days of nice 80’s and now it’s cooled off again. Still the incessant rain seems to have stopped, mostly.

    I am totally for Bloodline S3, I’m going to have a nice long binge I think over Memorial day! And Midsomer Murders is another I think I’d like… and Dangerous Crossing, It’s Always The Husband, and Into the Water are three that looks good to me. I’m loving the thrillers lately!

    I love a really good snack tray. Ritz crackers with a really good dip… it’s been too long. Have a super rest of the weekend!!

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Greg. I love binge-watching, and hope to do the same on the holiday weekend.

      I’m also really loving a different kind of book today, Secrets in Summer, which is not a thriller but a cozy book filled with family drama. It rolls out secrets, infidelity, beautiful settings, and delicious food. I always enjoy when the author shows us gorgeous island life and all that goes along with it.

      I must confess to a fondness for Greek Yogurt….and red wine, too.

  2. Yay for good weather. I started going a little netgalley crazy last week and had to stop myself! I haven’t been watching too many shows lately 13 reasons why is one for some reason am so weary of watching. My sister said she loved it so I might give it a try eventually. Happy reading!

  3. Smiling at the growing book stack. I went crazy too this month buying and requesting! Your weather heats up and mine gets colder but got to admit love the cold weather for cosy inside reading!

    1. Thanks, Kathryn, and yes, the stack in my living room grows when I move books from the office…which is where they land right after I get them. Two stages. LOL

      Yes, I still have a hard time wrapping my head around the opposites in our seasons, etc. Enjoy curling up.

  4. Boy that sounds too hot for me. I think mid-70’s is warm! I feel like I should read Emma in the Night because it share’s my name. I can’t wait to read the Paula Hawkins and hope you enjoy The Breakdown – just because I did! Have a good week. Emma x

    1. No, here in the Central Valley, we spend several months of triple digit weather…still ahead. Usually it hits those numbers in May and they continue, sometimes into October.

  7. Ahh, sounds like summer is on it’s way!

    I’m glad you had good books last week – that’s always a huge bonus. If I could read three books a week for a few weeks I might actually catch up to my reading challenge, but realistically that’s not going to happen. 1-2 is my average.

    Into the Water looks super interesting but I’ve yet to read Girl on a Train. Gosh, so far behind on the TBR. 🙂

    Your red wine looks delicious by the way! I indulged in a few glasses last week too! 😀

    1. Yes, I am a new fan of Scandal, having watched the first five seasons on Netflix only recently. Then I had to catch up on Season 6…but glad to finally be on board with it.

  10. Seems early to be that warm? We flirted with 90 a couple of days this week (almost unheard of for May) before strong storms pushed though. We were lucky not to lose power… several friends had trees down and were without electricity for two days. All your books look wonderful, especially the beachy ones 🙂 Have a good week!

  11. Oh we had warm temps this week too and it was so nice!! I watched the Grey’s and Scandal finales and thought they were both ok. I have been thinking about picking up Same Beach, Next Year. I have Into the Water and need to get to it! Enjoy your books and have a great week!

    1. Thanks, Katherine, and most of my lunches are Greek Yogurt, although I mostly photograph the ones in restaurants. They look tastier, somehow. LOL.

      I am excited about the beach reads…I just finished Secrets in Summer, by Thayer, yesterday…couldn’t stop reading it. Starting Into the Water today.

  24. How have you been liking 13 Reasons Why? I’ve been watching it too, I think I have about 3 or 4 episodes left. I read the book years ago but I can’t remember much of it now except for the premise and a few details.

    And you always have such great hauls! Emma in the Night and Same Beach, Next Year sound like they would be great read. Hope you enjoy them and all of your books! Happy reading!

  28. Oh we have such similar taste in books!! I also downloaded the new Wendy Walker book and look forward to reading. I want to read The Breakdown also. You’re on a great pace it seems, and I also need to challenge myself more on the books I’ve purchased…the stacks are going to fall over on me soon!! LOL

    1. I think so, too, Anita, and as for my stacks…most of mine are e-books, so I can fool myself into thinking they are not a problem. Such a mistake! But I do enter each purchased book onto one of my blogs and I try to check what I’ve read…and make my lists.

      It will probably take a really long time to read everything, since I keep buying…but at least I won’t have to fear running out of books to read!

    1. Thanks, Cheryl, I do love traveling via books and movies…the most economical way to go, and also hassle-free. I’m not much of a traveler, I discovered in recent years. Although some traveling is unavoidable and worth the stress.

      Yes, trying to decide if I’ll have that same lunch today…or another favorite, which is the melted cheese and tomato open face sandwich.

    1. Thanks for visiting, Kimberly, and I’m frustrated by how many new characters are added as I read along, trying to keep them all straight. There is no way I could do so in an audio.

      My NetGalley percentage varies between 88% and 92%. Sometimes a little over. I don’t read and review them until close to the release dates…maybe that is a factor?

    1. Thanks, Sam, and at first I wasn’t sure about the Hawkins book, as each new and short chapter featured a different character…and there are so many! But now we are seeing more depth with each character, so maybe I won’t end up too confused. LOL.

    I LOVE Midsomer Murders. We’ve seen all the original series (twice), and are now watching some of the newer shows. One of the reasons I haven’t been reading as much as I should lately. Love the books too, though.

  41. We are visiting IL and the weather is beautiful 65-75 I think. Even so, I got a sunburn on my neck – I expect that in FL, not here.
    So glad you really enjoyed those books! And looks like you have a good haul coming in. It is so dangerous sometimes to visit NetGalley. We have to wait till we get home to watch the finale of Blacklist.

  42. Whew, those are some very warm temperatures! Thankfully, it’s been cooler here the last few days — low 70s at most. But it’s supposed to get a little warmer by the weekend — around 80. I’ll take it; I’m not looking forward to the usual high-humidity 90s of summer around here.

    Enjoy your new books, and your new Netflix seasons. One of these days, I’ll get around to the Midsomer Murders, but right now, we’re enjoying Father Brown. It only took about 3 episodes for me to stop thinking “Mr. Weasley” every time I saw Mark Williams in the title role. 😀

  43. Hope your week cools off a bit. Otherwise you’ll need the A/C before Memorial Day weekend! We’ve watched about 4 or 5 episodes now of The Handmaiden’s Tale and are a bit caught up in the midst of it. How bleak it is! Have you finished Season 1 of it? Enjoy your books this week.

    1. Oh, thanks for the reminder…since it’s Wednesday, there will be another episode out. Off to check it. I’ve watched six episodes so far.

      Loving it even more than the movie that came out in the 90s, although that one, with Natasha Richardson, was brilliant.
