WEEKLY UPDATES: BINGE-WATCHING, ETC…..

Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.

**Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.

And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.

Warmer days have been conducive to staying indoors, but I didn’t read more.  Only TWO books read and reviewed this week.  One was a review book, and one was a book from my purchased stacks, bringing my Read the Books You Buy Challenge total to 48 books.

The Summer Mini-Bloggiesta is coming next weekend, and, of course, I have already started making changes on my target blog:  An Interior Journey.

There was a bit of rearranging of my interiors again this week, in response to last week’s new addition:  the office TV.

Netflix and Hulu kept me busy binge-watching.  I finished Season 5 of House of Cards, watched another episode of The Handmaid’s Tale, and started Season 5 of Orange is the New Black.

Morning hours might find me outdoors on the patio, cool enough for reading and breakfast.

Let’s take a look back at the week….

  1. I just finished The Red Hunter, and it was very good. I highly recommend it.
I just started The Sunshine Sisters and its not a typical Jane Green, but it’s good! It’s better in my opinion than some of her recent books, but I’m only 40% in.
I’m very much looking forward to Every Last Lie! I think Mary Kubica is a smart, talented writer.
Lucky you! The Cheesecake Factory is my favorite restaurant! I hope you enjoyed it! Looks delicious!

    1. Thanks, Stephanie, and I did enjoy the lunch very much, a get-together with an old friend/former colleague. We meet at various restaurants at least once a month.

Looking forward to The Red Hunter and The Sunshine Sisters…loving Every Last Lie already.

  2. The Cue Card

Looks like a great lunch. I think Handmaid’s Tale on TV is excellent. We are nearing the end of Season 1 and it is getting interesting. I’m in Southern Cal this weekend visiting my folks — so I know the warm days you are talking about. It’s lovely outside but I’m trying to stay in the shade. Enjoy your week.

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Susan, and I hope you enjoy your Southern Cal visit. My oldest and youngest kids are in Europe this week. My daughter and her husband are on their honeymoon there, and my eldest son lives in Prague. They sent photos of them together in a beer garden.

Our temp wasn’t too bad today, but I did stay indoors most of it. The patio time this morning was great.

I love it when mornings are cool enough to enjoy, spending time outside before it gets too hot is always nice. We’re supposed to have 90’s all next week so it has definitely heated up here! Sounds like your heat is in full swing there too! I mostly watched Luther (finally finished it up) and am now debating what to watch next.

I have high hopes for the new Country Club book, and The Sunshine sisters has such a summery cover. Hope your new books are all winners!

Looks like a nice lunch, as always. 🙂

    1. Thanks for visiting, Greg, and I love the Country Club series. I am also looking forward to The Sunshine Sisters.

I only watched a few episodes of Luther, and then got distracted by another show’s new season…I’m sure I’ll return to it, though.

I am watching the fifth season of Orange is the New Black, but so far, I’m just not quite feeling it. Could it be losing its appeal for me?

      Enjoy your week!

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Yvonne, and I am excited to have The Sunshine Sisters…which I hope to read after finishing a few other books. It is always a challenge juggling the older “new” books and the newest ones.

Review books tend to grab me first, of course.

      Enjoy your week!

    1. Thanks, Cleo, I love updating the blog, even between events, but usually those are the cosmetic ones. During bloggiesta, I hope to go beneath the surface…and should I dare go back and check links in the older posts?

Enjoy your week…I am excited about all my books.

  4. Mmm breakfast on the patio and a book to go along with it. Perfection. Some good looking books coming in too for the Kindle. Have been looking and thinking about a few of them. While the Cheesecake Factory sounds decadent, the food looks very healthy!!

    1. Thanks, Kathryn, and I love their salads at Cheesecake Factory. It’s all pretty healthy…if I stay away from the actual cheesecakes. LOL.

I do love reading and eating outside occasionally…when it’s cool enough. Glad you could stop by.

  5. Two books! That’s still a lot for me. When my reading goes down I end up finishing nothing! 🙂

I’ve heard House of Cards is really good and it may be our next series although we still have a lot of watching to do on our current viewing.

Your Cheesecake Factory lunch looks amazing. 🙂 I hope you enjoyed it! Have a great week!

    1. Thanks, Di, and I did enjoy my lunch. It’s always a treat to meet up with an old friend in a favorite place.

It is hard to pick what to watch on Netflix…sometimes I go back and forth between my choices.

      Enjoy your week!

  6. Sometimes it’s good to take a break from reading so you can find your mojo again. I still haven’t seen the new season of House of Cards, but plan to watch it this week sometime. The Handmaid’s Tale is also on my list. Have a good week!

    1. Thanks, Harvee, I am loving the new Kubica book so much that I don’t want to set it down for any reason. Definitely keeping me glued to the pages.

House of Cards was like that for me, too. Hope you like it.

And the new office TV compels me to turn it on when I’m in here, even if I’m not paying close attention. Background noise and a lovely screen with HD, something missing from my previous TV in here.

  7. My daughter keeps telling us to watch House of Cards… think we’ll finally start it this summer. I love Cheesecake Factory! My sister and I had lunch there on Thursday. No yummy drinks for us though since we were headed to her doctor’s appointment. Enjoy all those books and your cool mornings on the patio 🙂

    1. Thanks for visiting, JoAnn, and I hope you enjoy House of Cards. Some parts are better than others, but overall….I’m definitely addicted!

I must admit that the cocktail at Cheesecake Factory is as big a draw for me as the food…mainly because I never have cocktails unless I’m in a restaurant…or at my daughter’s house. (She used to be a bartender).

      Enjoy your week!

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Mary, and I have loved McKinnon’s books, so The Summer House will definitely be one I enjoy.

Luckily, our temperatures are lower than usual…70s and 80s this weekend. But then they will move upwards to triple digits…sigh.

I’ve always wanted to participate in the bloggiesta but they always select a date I’m busy. But I’ve been trying to blog ahead and it does feel good to have the posts setup. I have a couple of Julie Mulhern’s books and I need to read them soon. I hope you enjoy your new books and have a great week!

    1. Thanks, Kathy, and I usually start my participation of bloggiesta before the weekend. You could do that, too, if you wanted. I like that we can do as much or as little as we want.

I love Mulhern’s series, and have read all of them so far. Enjoy your week!

  9. I am working on catchup with Handmaid’s Tale this week. It’s so good. And You’ll Never Know, Dear has and interesting title and cover. That antique doll draws the eye. Have a good reading week.

    1. Thanks, vvb, I love Hallie Ephron’s books…and the doll on the cover could be beautiful…or a little creepy. I collect dolls, and my kids and grandkids think they are creepy. LOL.

I love The Handmaid’s Tale, too. Enjoy! Thanks for stopping by, and have a great week.

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Kathy, and Every Last Lie kept my captive until the final page. My review is up on my Serendipity blog…and Goodreads.

Enjoy your week! I hope the humidity goes away. Last night we had horrible wind again, so I put my patio umbrella down…my last one was destroyed by the winds.

I’m trying to catch up on reading which lagged the last couple of weeks and unpack boxes and boxes. This isn’t going well as my two tasks are either-or and not something that can be done at the same time. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  11. I do like the Cheesecake Factory; the last time I went which was two years ago, my friend and I had the crab cakes appetizer. The best with crunch and flavorful middle. I like how you pass the time to enjoy a day.

    1. Thanks, Stefanie, whenever my friend and former colleague and I get together for lunch, we recall the rushed and short lunches of the years we were working. And savor a lunch when we can pass the time for a couple of hours.

      Enjoy your week!

  12. Thanks for the reminder…I forgot about the mini summer Bloggiesta. 🙂

You had an EXCELLENT week. I read THE SUNSHINE SISTERS…my first Jane Green book. It was good. I didn’t like the mother at all. 🙂

I started reading THE SUMMER HOUSE. I am enjoying it.

I KNOW you will love YOU’LL NEVER KNOW, DEAR. 🙂

    Have a great reading week.

You have so many books listed that I want to read – The Sunshine Sisters, the Joanne Demaio. I have actually wanted to read her for years, and still haven’t gotten around to her. I really need to!

Have a great week, and keep cool!

I also love Jane Green’s books, and I’m looking forward to The Sunshine Sisters.

      The drink was very delicious!
