WEEKLY UPDATES: MORE TRIPLE DIGITS….

Good morning! Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.

**Mailbox Monday is hosted at the home site: Mailbox Monday.

And let’s join Kathryn, our leader in It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, at Book Date.

Another hot week has been good for my reading…and Movie/TV watching.  I  read and reviewed four books this week, bringing my total for the Read the Books You Buy Challenge to 58.  Two of my books were NetGalley Review ARCs.

On the binge-watching front, I watched Season 6 of Offspring on Netflix, and all of Season 1 of Gypsy.

My stacks are dwindling…a little.  But I keep buying books, too, although I only downloaded one e-book this week.

Let’s grab some coffee and take a look.  I’m in my office with the TV on…and posting on my blogs.

Yikes hot hot hot there huh? We had a storm blow through Thur night and took out power to a whole bunch of people, including us lol. Hasn’t been that hot though, although it’s supposed to be upper 80’s later next week. Thank gosh for air conditioning right?

I watched a bit of Netflix this week too, til the power outage *grumble grumble* Between Netflix and books I seem to be staying busy!

    The Child looks quite good.

Have a great weekend, stay cool! Looks like a fabulous lunch for a hot day. 🙂

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Greg, and I can hang in with the heat as long as the AC works and, of course, there are no power outages.

Right now I’m reading a book from my print stack about the Roman Polanski case from the 1970s—and his subsequent arrest in 2013—written by the girl.

I am excited about finally having a copy of The Child.

      Enjoy your week!

  2. Becoming Queen Victoria seems like it would be really interesting. I’m glad for the cooler temperatures here in Colorado the last couple of days, last week was just too hot. At least we don’t have the humidity. Enjoy your week 🙂

I know I’ll be picking up The Child. It keeps popping up everywhere. Been in the 90s with heat indexes in triple digits here. Add in the humidity and it’s a steamy mess. Spent lots of time in the pool and read several books. Watched some more of The Mist and iZombie. So many shows to watch! Have a lovely Sunday:)

  4. Well one way to get through hot weather is to read and view so very wise. Glad to see you loved Patti Callahan’s book which I do want to read and the second of Christine Nolfi’s which I may not reach on but good to see you enjoyed it.

  5. Wait. Has your blog changed a little? I don’t think I noticed that last week as I was viewing it from the phone, and nothing’s ever the same from a phone.
Congrats on only downloading a single book! That is impressive. I know I’ve downloaded more, which is why I’m not even looking at my stacks this week xD

    1. Thanks for visiting, Evelina, and yes, I changed the theme, the header, and the background. I don’t like visiting blogs from my phone because I love experiencing the overall look of a site.

I kept thinking that I should download more books, but some of the ones I’m eager to get haven’t been released yet. Next week will be a different story, as some are coming out on the 11th.

      Enjoy your week!

  6. We have had temperatures in the 70s and 80s and there are folks around here who act like they’re melting. That said, as we’re only ever prepared for drizzle in this country, anything else tends to be a bit of a shock and many public buildings like schools, colleges and offices are unbearable… I’m glad you’ve got lots of TV watching and reading done – the place to be when it gets so terribly hot. Have a great week, Laurel. My Sunday Post -https://sjhigbee.wordpress.com/2017/07/09/sunday-post-9th-july-2017/

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Sarah, and I would love 70s or 80s now…but I’m grateful for mild winters, so this is the price: HOT summers. LOL.

When I visit the coast and the temperature happens to go up, it is harder to bear since they’re not set up for hot weather there. No AC, etc.

      Enjoy your week!

    1. Thanks for visiting, Cai, and the only problem with binge-watching is having to wait a long time for the next season. But thankfully, other shows occupy us.

Offspring annoys me at times because of some of the very goofy characters…even the midwives are a bit crazy. And I especially find Jimmy hard to take. But I still keep watching, because I want to know what will happen to Nina next.

    1. Thanks for visiting, Deb, and I’m glad that the hot days have brought good reading time.

I was contemplating going out today…for lunch, or a little shopping, but then thought better of it. Later, my mind said. It’s too hot!

    1. Thanks, Kimberly, it took a bit of work during Bloggiesta, and I still change the background occasionally. LOL.

I am excited about The Summer House…and plan to read more today. I got side-tracked by one of my print books called The Girl, about the Roman Polanski case from the 70s.

The never-ending shifting of the pile! But it’s fun…right? Glad you could stop by.

    1. Thanks for visiting, Trin Carl, and for the heads-up on OA. I added it to my queue.

I usually watch Netflix in my living room, as that’s where my Blu-Ray device is hooked up. But I could hook my laptop up to this TV in my office.

      Enjoy your week!

    1. Thanks for visiting, Aleen, and I would have picked the Victoria book up sooner, but it seems fairly hefty. Actually just under 400 pages, but with very small print. I’ll have to work it in between lighter reads.

Enjoy your week, and stay cool!

  8. The Summer House looks really good. I enjoyed The Child. I’m going to add Gypsy to my list on Netflix. I just found The Fall with Gillian Anderson so I’ve been binging on that one this week. Hope you have a great week.

It was hot here too and since I was on vacation I stayed indoors and read. It’s too hot to do anything outside lol. I also bought After Anna. I’m curious to read this book and I need to add more thrillers/mysteries to my reading. I hope we both enjoy it. Have a great week and I hope the weather cools down for you. Happy reading!

    1. Thanks, Kathy, and I don’t expect the temperatures to go down, although a 99 is predicted for Wednesday…LOL. I can manage if it doesn’t go higher, though. I keep remembering when we had higher than 110 degrees for ten days in a row…a few years ago. Then I drove to the coast and stayed for a while.

Enjoy your week, and thanks for visiting.

    1. Thanks for visiting, Laura, and I think erratic weather would be hard to deal with. At least with the heat, we pretty much know it will remain hot for a couple more months…sigh.

      Enjoy your week!

I am loving The Summer House so far.

  11. I need to read more of my own books but I seem to just keep adding to the stacks. I was on vacation last week and didn’t get to read much at all so I’m ready to get back into my normal schedule this week. I loved The Summer House – one of my favorites this year. Have a great week!

    1. I am really enjoying The Summer House. I haven’t made much progress on it yet, as I read another one of my print books yesterday (The Girl: Roman Polanski).

Vacations are great, Mary, but they tend to get in the way of reading…LOL. Enjoy your week, and thanks for visiting.

  14. Your bottom stack looks fetching to the eye. The salad looks nice and healthy. My tween loves a good Caesar salad. Last week of summer math – hoorah! The baby and I need to pick up her new glasses and some food. I have a box of (frozen) breaded cod I’m making tonight and I thought we’d have soft tacos with guacamole and salsa + chips of course.

  16. We are sailing through summer with some perfect temps. Hovering in the eighties, just perfect. Lots of lovely sunshine too. I am so happy to hear that the Bookshop at Water’s Edge was a five star read for you. I was eyeing that one. I am going to see if I can still get an ARC. Have a lovely week, Laurel.

  17. I’m curious about Gypsy. It looks good! I need to add it to my Netflix Queue. Yay for no new books! Ebooks don’t count – especially if they’re not for review. I’m looking forward to your review of The Child. That one is high up my TBR. It sounds so good. Have a great week!
