Triple digits are predicted for this weekend and beyond!  I knew it was coming…but I was still clinging to the past week with the 80s days.  Sigh.

It has still been a pretty good week, with THREE books read and reviewed.  My Read the Books You Buy Challenge total:  49 books.  Two of my books this week were review books.  I am enjoying hanging out in my office today, with books and the TV playing in the background.  Breakfast (nothing fancy:  toaster waffles) and an Aurora Teagarten Mystery Marathon.

This weekend brings a Summer Mini-Bloggiesta, and I’ve given myself a head start, as usual.  I am enjoying working on my An Interior Journey site, my first blog on Word Press.

Warmer days have been conducive to staying indoors, but I didn’t read more.  Only TWO books read and reviewed this week.  One was a review book, and one was a book from my purchased stacks, bringing my Read the Books You Buy Challenge total to 48 books.

The Summer Mini-Bloggiesta is coming next weekend, and, of course, I have already started making changes on my target blog:  An Interior Journey.

There was a bit of rearranging of my interiors again this week, in response to last week’s new addition:  the office TV.

Netflix and Hulu kept me busy binge-watching.  I finished Season 5 of House of Cards, watched another episode of The Handmaid’s Tale, and started Season 5 of Orange is the New Black.

Morning hours might find me outdoors on the patio, cool enough for reading and breakfast.

Another week has flown by!  I read and reviewed four books, two of them NetGalley reviews, and my Read the Books You Buy total is now at 47.

The 90 – 100 degree heat has kept me indoors with the AC….which explains the four books read.

I’ve been watching Season 5 of House of Cards on Netflix, and The Handmaid’s Tale on Hulu.  Soon there will be another season of Orange Is the New Black.

I’m still watching (and loving) Season 3 of Better Call Saul, on AMC, but there are only three episodes left. Sigh.

I think the skin condition is ALMOST under control.

Finally my new little flat screen TV for the office arrived, and the Geek Squad set it up for me.   I like listening to it as background noise when I’m at my computer.

Happy holidays to those who celebrate Memorial Day.  It is plenty hot here, and I’m loving the functioning AC, which one can never really take for granted.

My week has been busy, with four books read and reviewed.  Two were review books, and two were purchased, bringing my totals for the Read the Books You Buy Challenge to 45.

All week I’ve been fighting my hair dye reaction, and at this point, all is almost back to normal.  I am seriously rethinking hair dye, though.  The reaction was painful…and let’s just say I don’t want to go through it again.

I shopped for a new flat screen TV for my office, but the one I picked out was too big for the space, which I didn’t realize until the delivery guy arrived.  There were unexpected “legs” on it.  Back to the drawing board!

I have been watching Season 3 of Bloodline, and how depressing are those folks!  Their problems are huge, and I cannot see any good ending for any of them.

I have watched through Episode 7 of The Handmaid’s Tale on Hulu.  Loving it!

I’m sipping iced tea and contemplating the week ahead…but first let’s look at last week.

Sunny days are here again….with temperatures from 93 – 99 (Today through Monday); and the books I’ve read this week were so enjoyable!  Only THREE, with one of them a review book, so my Read the Books You Buy Challenge total is now 43.

I’ve gone a little crazy with NetGalley requests lately, not really expecting to get them all right away, but the ones I received are spread out a little bit.  I have a total of EIGHT on my Kindle, with release dates in June, July, August, and September.

Netflix is bringing out new seasons for some favorites, like Season III of Bloodline this week.  I started watching Midsomer Murders, and I am still glued to an episode at a time of 13 Reasons Why.

On TV, Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal had their season finales this week.  I am enjoying Season III of Better Call Saul.

This week has been an interesting mix of hot days and some cooler days with wind.  I am sick of the wind, but I guess I can wait a little while for the triple digit heat.

Looking back on the week, I was busy doing things that were not that memorable…and then I had a manicure, which I enjoyed.

I planned to have a nice relaxing day today—blogging, reading, etc., but I got a call from the management of the condos saying there was a broken pipe in one of the units attached to mine, and in order to determine if the rest of us were affected, plumbers were coming out…and the window of time involved might be the whole weekend!  I wasn’t happy, but I tried to read and not think about it.

Late afternoon:  got a call that the problem was isolated in the front unit, and mine would not need work, nor would they need access to mine.  Yay!  I remember a few years ago when a pipe was broken in my walls and three days later, after a lot of chaos, they had it fixed.  So I was not looking forward to more of that.

Feeling very relieved, I did settle in with my book.  And then thought I should go ahead and write this post, never knowing what unexpected events might come along.

I did finish reading and reviewing three books this week, and my total for the challenge is 41.  Two of the books I read were Vine and NetGalley review books, so they did not count for the challenge.

I finally set up my new patio umbrella this week, and enjoyed a cup of coffee while looking out at the new outdoor space.  It was already too warm to actually go out there.

It has been another good reading week, with four books read and reviewed, and all were from my TBR Purchased stacks, which brings my total for the Read the Books You Buy Challenge to 40!

An absence of wind or rain has made my interiors feel more secure…although I did have maintenance come and apply an adhesive to that blasted skylight cover…and I had to order a new market umbrella to replace the one now in tatters.  It arrived yesterday…and I will try to put it up today!

On Hulu, I want to start watching The Handmaid’s Tale.…I loved the book, and saw a movie based on it a few years ago.  Margaret Atwood has suggested (in an interview) that the world in this story may not be that far off…..

Since yesterday was Cinco de Maya, I went out for this delicious Mexican meal, complete with margaritas…Yes, two.

I thought about going to see the movie The Dinner today…and I’m still contemplating it.  Perhaps I will wait until it comes to Amazon Prime?  I didn’t love the book that much…but the cast of the movie does sound tempting:  Richard Gere, Laura Linney, Rebecca Hall, Chloe Sevigny...to name a few.

When I talked about the lovely spring weather last week, I should have known.  Yes, this week has also had great sunny days…and then yesterday came.

Wind that was so strong that I had to fight my way through it to run my simple errands.  So strong that my (wait for it!) skylight cover came down in the kitchen…again!  This time it didn’t break, and I put it back up.  But now I am very leery of entering the kitchen.  Eyes trained upwards, I slink along, hoping to get whatever I need—coffee, food, etc.—without angering the Skylight Gods.  But to be fair, it’s the wind and rain that have been playing havoc here.

After living here for ten years, this year has been the first to bring down that stupid skylight cover THREE times now.  Or has it been four times?  I’m losing track.  Is this a sign?  That I should move?

Okay, let’s not be hasty, right?  Meanwhile, the rest of my week was awesome.  I actually read and reviewed FIVE books (one was pretty short);  and I wrote eight blog posts.  My total for the Read the Books You Buy Challenge – 36 books!

My coffee table book stack dwindled this week, after I had read a few…so naturally, I had to add to it with more books from the office.  The migration pattern is this:  books begin their stacked life on the trunk in my office, and then they move to the coffee table in the living room (or reading room).  The unread books in this “new” stack start with America’s Queen, near the bottom, and move upwards to my Vine review book on top.  Two books on this new shelf were on the previous one…they will surely get read very soon.

After not watching much Netflix this week, I suddenly found myself binge-watching #GIRLBOSS.  I have always enjoyed the star, Britt Robertson.  Expect to read that I’ve watched all of Season I by the end of the weekend.  My favorite thing?  The San Francisco setting.  It takes me back to my younger days when I lived there.

So…enough, already.  Let’s talk about last week.

Great, sunshiny days came along this week, and so far it isn’t hot, either.  This perfect balance won’t last that long.  In the meantime, I am luxuriating in this little spring bubble.

My reading took a spike upwards this week, with FOUR books read and reviewed.  My blogging fell off, however, with only FIVE posts.  I guess when one thing goes up, the other goes down.  My total Read the Books You Buy Count so far:  32.

I spent some time watching Netflix(13 Reasons Why) and Amazon Prime(Bridget Jones’s Baby & La La Land); enjoyed some movies on my DVR; and played around with my blog headers (and then changed them again!).  I suffer from Restless/Compulsive Blog Designing/Changing Syndrome.

I did get a mani/pedi this week, to honor spring and sandals.

I was on Facebook earlier this week, and they had posted some “memories” to share.  I found this one from a few years back…the neighborhood library had featured one of my novels (click to my Amazon page).

 

My patio is buried under mounds of leaves that the gardeners regularly propel in with their leaf blowers…what is the sense of that?  I used to sweep them out regularly, but it was hopeless when the rains were turning them into a soggy mess.  But now that it’s spring, I need to prepare the patio for relaxing days ahead.

While I ponder that, I’ll have another cup of coffee…and talk about my week.

Another week slid by while I wasn’t even doing all that much.  But here we are, ready to total up the memorable moments.  I did read and review THREE books this week.  Two were review books:  one an author review request, and the other from NetGalley.  I read one book from my own purchases, bringing my Read the Books You Buy Challenge total to  29 books!

I started watching another show on Netflix:  13 Reasons Why.  Has anyone else seen it?  On regular TV, I’m watching Season III of Better Call Saul.  After having binge-watched five seasons of Scandal on Netflix, I’m now enjoying Season 6 on ABC.

This weekend, I plan to scroll through titles on Amazon Prime Videos…and some more on Netflix.  And I’ll read some, too.

For fun, my daughter shared some photos:  On the left:  Heather at fourteen next to a photo of her son Noah at fourteen:

They do seem to be related…LOL.  My eldest son had fun playing with Photoshop, and put a fringe and long hair on Noah’s photo (below), after which he apologized to Noah profusely:

 

As you can tell, we have a quirky sense of humor in our family.
