Welcome to another Tuesday celebrating bookish events, First Chapter/Intros, originally hosted by Bibliophile by the Sea and now hosted by I’d Rather Be at the Beach; and Teaser Tuesdays hosted by The Purple Booker.
Today’s feature is a recent download: Raspberry Danish Murder (e-book, A Hannah Swensen Mystery), by Joanne Fluke…I love the Hallmark Mysteries, with one of the regular dramas based on these books.
Intro: Hannah Swensen Barton glanced at the clock in the bedroom that she now slept in alone. There were tears in her eyes as she put on her warmest sweater. Her new husband, Ross Barton, had been gone for two weeks now and even though her youngest sister, Michelle, was staying with her at the condo, Hannah still felt terribly alone. It was easier during the day. When the sun had risen and it was no longer time to cuddle with Ross on their new couches or sleep beside him in their new king-size bed, she managed to convince herself that everything was going to be all right, that Ross was planning to come back to her.

Teaser: “We need to bake, Hannah,” Michelle said as they stepped into the kitchen at The Cookie Jar. “Baking always calms us down.”
***
Synopsis: Hannah has felt as bitter as November in Minnesota since Ross vanished without a trace and left their marriage in limbo. Still, she throws herself into a baking frenzy for the sake of pumpkin pie and Thanksgiving-themed treats while endless holiday orders pour into The Cookie Jar. Hannah even introduces a raspberry Danish pastry to the menu, and P.K., her husband’s assistant at KCOW-TV, will be one of the first to sample it. But instead of taking a bite, P.K., who is driving Ross’s car and using his desk at work, is murdered. Was someone plotting against P.K. all along or did Ross dodge a deadly dose of sweet revenge? Hannah will have to quickly sift through a cornucopia of clues and suspects to stop a killer from bringing another murder to the table . . .

I haven’t read this author in a few years, but it sounds like I’ve missed some things in this series. I’ll have to check the library for this one.

I’ve only read a couple of books in this series but I’ve really enjoyed them and am looking forward to catching up. I’m intrigued by the missing husband especially in the beginning. I can’t decide if his absence is voluntary or not. Have you watched the Hallmark movies based on this series? They’re lots of fun!

Thanks for stopping by, Katherine, and I love the Hallmark movies based on these books. Loving that show made me decide to read the books.
I set my DVR for them whenever they come around again. The actress, Alison Sweeney, also starred for years in a soap opera I watch (Days of Our Lives). LOL
