Welcome to another Blue Mondays Musings post. To see what others are musing about, check out A Daily Rhythm.
All day yesterday, I kept thinking it was Saturday…and lo and behold, here we are at Monday! But I love Mondays these days….remember? That’s why I created this blog originally, as in my freelance life, Mondays are awesome.
Jen gives us topics to explore. Here are a few:
- I’m currently reading…
- Up next I think I’ll read…
- I bought the following book(s) in the past week…
- I’m super excited to tell you about (book/author/bookish-news)…
- I’m really upset by (book/author/bookish-news)…
- I can’t wait to get a copy of…
- I wish I could read ___, but…
- I blogged about ____ this past week…
THIS WEEK’S RANDOM QUESTION: What was your favorite book as a child?
***
In childhood, I loved reading (and rereading) Little Women, and all the other Alcott books, too. Later on, I was obsessed with Nancy Drew mysteries. The Secret of the Old Clock is one of my faves…and I have this one, and two others from the beginning of the series.
Books are my favorite childhood memories, as my addiction began there…and grew. And grew.

This past week, I finally experienced NetGalley for the first time. I joined in 2012, but my old beloved Kindle Sparky did not accept those galleys. I don’t know why.
But Pippa, my Paperwhite, does.
Here is the first book I received:
The Sound of Glass, by Karen White.
What books, new and old, remind you of your first love of books?
***
I loved all the children’s classics but I think my favourite was The Secret Garden. Enid Blyton kept me topped up with books from Mr Pink Whistle through to the Famous Five.

I didn’t get around to The Secret Garden until adulthood, but then I loved it. Thanks for stopping by, Cleopatra.

Thanks, Valentina; I was surprised when I reread Little Women just a few years ago at how many of the lines I remembered. From rereading so many times…LOL.

I never read Little Women growing up but I did read several of the Nancy Drew books. I remember in third grade, we got to go to the school library once a week and a friend of mine would check out a Nancy Drew novel each week and finish reading it by Thursday….

I got my books from the library, except for the Nancy Drew books. Those I borrowed from a friend who seemed to have all of them. It was great! Thanks for visiting, Michael.

I read quite a few Lousia May Alcott when I was little, too. So nice.

Little Women, Nancy Drew and there was another series also. I think it was called Cherry Ames, RN. I also loved going to the library for this series of autobiographies I would check out. I loved them, could not get enough! But, now it is only fiction, fiction, and more fiction for me!

I think that NetGalley will fill my reader very quickly! It is almost too much…so I should be cautious about my requests. LOL
Thanks for stopping by, Susan, and those memories of favorite books are so poignant, aren’t they?
