Good morning!  It is that time in the week when we gather around and compare notes on our thoughts, both bookish and not so bookish.  Join Christine over at Bookishly Boisterous to see what others are chatting about.

I haven’t participated in this event for a couple of weeks, as I was flat on my back, ill, most of last week. 

I have saved up some of my thoughts, however, and now that I’m feeling better, I’m ready to play!  I have had fun watching my granddaughter Fiona change up her look recently.  She turned eighteen on her birthday in February, so I think she’s searching for just the right style for her.

While I was sick, I had ample opportunity to study my interiors.  I wrote about some of them last week  in My Interior World:  Under Scrutiny.

After “editing” some of my tablescapes, I kept going and did a little bit of purging on my Baker’s Rack.  There is still a lot going on here, but I did remove a few things from the surfaces:

I love NetGalley so far!  I have received nine e-ARCs as of today, and I’ve reviewed one of them.  My rule is working so far:  only request books that I would buy.  Here is what I’m reading now:  Inside the O’Briens, by Lisa Genova.

  2. Thank you for sharing Fiona’s different styles. She looks like a fun person, and so does your daughter.
    So sorry to hear you’ve been ill. So have I! There’s a bad cold/flu thing going around my part of the world, and it took a while to shake it. I’m glad you and I are both feeling better now!

  4. I haven’t touched my paperwhite for the past month I think. Going back to reading paperbacks and re-reading my hoard. I am a great one for re-reading books I love 🙂 What is that carousel and house in the picture? Ceramics?

    1. Thanks, Malvika, and the carousel figurines are resin, I guess they call it. The house is a plush creation by Mary Engelbreit, another obsession of mine. I have various pieces to the Disney collection, and several Engelbreit creations, including dolls.

    Fiona looks like such an awesome gal! And your daughter is beautiful, what a great, happy picture of her!

    I took the plunge and got myself a copy of the new Geneva book. Now I just need to make time to read it. HA!

    1. Thanks, Brandie, and I so adore my “girls.” I only have the one daughter, so she was a bit spoiled, I think, but nothing major…LOL. Fiona is one of two granddaughters, and the only one who lives close by. She lived right next door to me, in my guesthouse, for the first four years of her life, so there’s a strong bond.

      I hope you enjoy Inside the O’Briens…I am, so far.

    1. I don’t know how it all works, yet….”percent read up?” I’ve been trying to read them and review them close to the release dates….but obviously there is more I need to know! Thanks for stopping by, Pat.

      1. Pat means the % of books requested and the % of books reviewed equaling out. The higher the amount of books you post reviews for, the more new titles you will likely be granted, plus also become an auto-request member. Last time around my % suffered when I gave back books I changed my mind about; this time I am being very picky and making myself review the book right after reading it. Hope this helps.

        By the way Heather and Fiona are always such stylish gals 🙂 Love to see their photos.
        And I can’t wait to read Inside the O’Briens, I love Lisa Genova.

      2. Thanks, Rita….I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to read and review the ones coming out in June and July right away; I’ve been focusing on April and May books. NetGalley is quite different from Vine….

    Re NetGalley: Go to your dashboard, click on profile and scroll down. You’ll see your ratio; here’s mine: 67 Invitations | 157 Approvals | 161 Feedback
    Recommended Feedback to Approval Ratio is at least 80%. Yours is 72%. (I’m working on getting it up)

    As for when to publish your review, check the publisher requirements. Every pub on NetGalley has a page where they list their requirements, including when to post. Some like early reviews, some want no earlier than 2 weeks before the release date. BUT, you can post your review on NetGalley under the book’s feedback and then go back later to add the link.
