Welcome to Bookish Saturday, along with our regular feature, Saturday Snapshot, our opportunity to showcase photos we or friends and family have captured. The Snapshot event is now hosted by West Metro Mommy.
Some great bookish things happened this week, so I decided to share some of those photos today.
After my latest purge, I moved the empty bookshelves in my hallway to the garage. Here they are:
And here are the two full boxes that I will be donating to Big Brothers and Big Sisters, as they will come and pick them up.
And I also emptied out the top shelf of my Book Nook, since the giveaways were not clearing my shelves quickly enough. Here is what is left of the nook. See the top shelf, empty of books:
And in honor of my pledge to (mostly) buy e-books, I upgraded my Kindle. Today I received the new Paperwhite, which I have named Pippa.

Have a great bookish weekend!

Thanks, Esme, I think so, too, and the purge this time was more extensive, since I emptied two bookshelves.

Wow! You did a great job purging. It’s hard, isn’t it? Congratulations on adding Pippa to your electronic family.

Thanks! It definitely was hard, Sandra, and I had to be brutal in what I saved and what I kept. I almost had to ignore the book titles, some of which had been with me since the 60s. Sentimental much? It was time to let them go, though. Thanks for visiting.
I am still learning to navigate Pippa….but I only started using her last night.

I think you will love your new Paperwhite. I have a friend who loves hers. Congratulations on the purge. And moving the bookcases will keep them from becoming overcrowded again. Good Job!

Thanks, Judy, and this was a first for me, actually emptying and removing two bookcases. It felt good…and it is a relief that the Big Brother/Big Sisters group is sending someone to pick them up.
I do hope to enjoy Pippa.

Aww, I spy Raggedy Ann on the bookshelf 🙂 When I was a baby my mum bought me life-size Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy – I still have them. Hullo Pippa!

That Raggedy Ann was made by my mom for my daughter. My daughter is not sentimental and never really hung onto any dolls, so I ended up with them. The little Annie doll next to her was from the theater production in LA, in 1980….and I bought it for my daughter. I love having her dolls…LOL. Thanks for stopping by, Sarah.

The ornaments surrounding your Kindle in that last photo caught my eye–especially the dragon. I also still have Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls. Actually, I own books about them too.
My husband and I regularly donate books to local groups. Then we visit library book sales and restock. We’re still print people. 🙂

Thanks, Allison….I do love my Disney creatures, and have them everywhere, from the bookshelves to the mantle. And my mom made both Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls, but somehow, Andy got lost along the way…sigh.
Good for you for donating!
