Today I’m participating in WWW Wednesdays, at Taking on a World of Words. Here’s how it works:
The Three Ws are:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next, and/or what are you eagerly awaiting?
CURRENTLY READING: White Palace, by Glenn Savan
An urban tale of love against the odds, in which Max, an upwardly mobile copywriter and Nora, a 40 year-old waitress from the wrong side of town, become embroiled in a torrid affair.

EAGERLY ANTICIPATING: The Last Night in London, by Karen White – Release Date – April 20, 2021
London, 1939. Beautiful and ambitious Eva Harlow and her American best friend, Precious Dubose, are trying to make their way as fashion models. When Eva falls in love with Graham St. John, an aristocrat and Royal Air Force pilot, she can’t believe her luck—she’s getting everything she ever wanted. Then the Blitz devastates her world, and Eva finds herself slipping into a web of intrigue, spies, and secrets. As Eva struggles to protect her friendship with Precious and everything she holds dear, all it takes is one unwary moment to change their lives forever…
London, 2019. American journalist Maddie Warner, whose life has been marked by the tragic loss of her mother, travels to London to interview Precious about her life in pre-WWII London. Maddie has been careful to close herself off to others, but in Precious she recognizes someone whose grief rivals her own—but unlike Maddie, Precious hasn’t allowed it to crush her. Maddie finds herself drawn to both Precious and to Colin, her enigmatic surrogate nephew. As Maddie gets closer to her, she begins to unravel Precious’s haunting past—a story of friendship, betrayal, and the unremembered acts of kindness and of love.

That cover of White Palace is so striking. I hope what’s inside lives up to it.

Thanks, Cathy, I think the cover is striking, too, although the character on the cover looks nothing like the woman who portrayed her in the movie, lol. (Susan Sarandon).

The Upstairs House sounds strange, but interesting. Although I think I’d share your frustrations by not picking up on the new mum’s struggles

Definitely! I did enjoy the story, though, Lisa, and I was rooting for the new mum.

I am going to put Her Dark Lies on my TBR. I am a sucker for books set in Italy, though I am judgy that the fictional island off of the Italian coast is called Isle Isola, which means island island. LOL Thanks for stopping by my WWW (https://greatmorrisonmigration.wordpress.com/2021/03/31/www-wednesdays-march-31-2021/)! Have a great week!

I’m glad to hear you liked Her Dark Lies too. Awesome review!
(I think, maybe, I fixed my own comments section. I wondered why I only had one comment, so I guess you were not alone in the issue. Why do I play around with my website? Someone would slap my hand when I do that.)

Thank you for mentioning Sarandon in the comments! As I read your description, I thought … “Wasn’t this a movie?” I was almost literally squinting, trying to remember!
