Good morning!  Today’s post will link up to The Sunday Salon, The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves, for weekly updates.

**Mailbox Monday is now hosted at the home site:  Mailbox Monday.

And, in anticipation of Sheila’s return, check out What Are You Reading at Book Journey.

My week has resumed a kind of “normal,” with my house guests up north, visiting other family members.  Before they left, we had a great night of back-to-back movies, Netflix, and popcorn.

This is my new normal, or something approximating my old normal…what did your week look like?

Before I dive into these books, I plan to go to the movies and see Ricki & the Flash, with Meryl Streep, Kevin Kline, Mamie Gummer (Meryl’s daughter), and Rick Springfield.

  1. That sounds like so much fun, movies and Netflix. I’ve become seriously addicted to Netflix I think. Glad you had a great visit and a whole month with them- how awesome. And more time to look forward to coming up! Have a fabulous week and enjoy your reading time. 🙂

  2. Movie night with NeFlix sounds fun. It’s good you and your son had that time together.

I read Honest Illusions years ago and as I recall, I liked it.

I can’t believe the Milhone books are up to book X! I think I might be a couple letters behind. The French book looks good too.

    Happy reading!

  3. Spending time watching movies together sounds like fun. I use to read Grafton’s Murder by Letters series and should really pick them up again since I remember loving them. Have a delightful week Laurel

I didn’t realize that Sue Grafton had reached the X in her alphabet ! I’ve been re-reading some Nora Roberts books lately and really enjoyed them and I should be reading some Nicci French soon. Have a great week, happy reading 🙂

    1. Thanks, Red Iza…glad you are enjoying your rereads. I haven’t done that in a while, but have a stack of books I do want to enjoy again. Have a great week! And after X, there is only Y and Z…and then what? Sigh.

    1. Ha-ha…I’m sure you’ve seen them, or maybe not. But my son and his wife both enjoyed This Is Where I Leave You, because they hadn’t seen it. And my DIL loved White Oleander, so we talked my son into watching it…he enjoyed how different Robin Wright’s character was from her House of Cards portrayal. Thanks for visiting, Bryan.

  5. Sounds like you had a great visit with your family! You got some great books! I’ve been wanting to go back and finish up the Sue Grafton series. Actually since it’s drawing to a close I’d really like to go back and reread the beginning of the series. Of course who has time to reread 15 books! I really enjoyed Honest Illusions though it’s been ages since I’ve read it. Have a great week!

    1. I had somehow missed Honest Illusions along the way, but the Kindle offering was dirt cheap…LOL. And I always (almost always) enjoy NR. As for the early Grafton books, I can’t even remember them….it has been sooo many years since I started the series.

Thanks for visiting, Katherine. Enjoy your week!

    1. Thanks, Yvonne, and I love that Meryl’s daughter is in it, too. The two of them have starred in other movies together, but my favorite was when her daughter was a baby, featured in Heartburn, with Meryl and Jack Nicholson…way back in the day.

      Enjoy your week!

  6. I read At Risk so long ago and then proceeded to read a whole handful of Hoffman books, but not any in the past few years, don’t know why.

I only read the “Monday” book by Nicci French and enjoyed it, so I should remember to look for the Tuesday one now. I assume they are better read in order.

Enjoy those last few days with your son and D-I-L. You’re making great memories! My son is now home from Europe and is trying to get back in the groove of daily life so he can go back to school later this month.

Have a wonderful week and also enjoy the Meryl Streep movie. I love her in any movie I’ve ever seen her in- truly one of the best actresses ever for her ability to be a “chameleon”!

    1. I completely agree about Meryl…and I thoroughly enjoyed our last days together here. But they will return in Sept.
I have loved all the Frieda Klein books. I especially enjoy rooting for her when some of her colleagues think she is crazy.

  7. I love Sue Grafton’s Alphabet Mysteries, but kind of fell off after book J, because it took me a while to track down K back in the day. I really need to pick them up again soon. Can’t believe she’s already on X!

    1. I remember trying to chase down some of the titles in the library…because of that, I’m not completely sure that I read all the early books. But once I started buying them, I didn’t miss any of them. Thanks for stopping by, Angelized.

    1. I hope I love Wings, too, Teddyree….and I definitely loved our movie and popcorn nights. My DIL got hooked on Netflix, too, and we watched Private Practice for a while most nights. Enjoy your week!

    1. I LOVED the movie, Elizabeth, and Rick Springfield is a musician I have enjoyed…and he appears occasionally as a character on General Hospital.

I was amazed at Meryl’s voice…while I’d seen her in a couple of movies in which she sang, in this one, she was awesome.

I loved the family aspects of the story, too.

    1. Thanks, Shelleyrae, and I am wondering if Friday will be the last in this series? I guess I’ll have a clue when I reach the end…LOL. I am looking forward to X and We Never Asked for Wings. Enjoy your week.

Hope you love Ricki! I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Thanks for stopping by, Kathy, and I do miss my house guests, but their hiatus is allowing me to rearrange my space in preparation for their next visit.

    1. Did you read V and W? All the later books are on my shelves, and I am pretty sure I didn’t erroneously purge them…LOL. I have to be careful with my purging, as sometimes it is ruthless.

I’m eager to read X. Thanks for visiting, Harvee, and enjoy!

  12. The Kinsey Millhone series is almost out of alphabet! I like that series – I’m still somewhere in the middle letters.

How was Ricki and the Flash? I rarely go out to the movies but this one sounds like fun.

    1. I am going to miss Kinsey Millhone when the alphabet ends! But maybe the author will bring us something else fun.

I LOVED Ricki and the Flash. Meryl can really sing, too, which I sort of knew, and her performance was impressive. But then that’s Meryl, right?

Thanks for stopping by, Leslie…hope you do see this one.
